“Businesses that do not comply face suspension of its business license.”

What do you do with businesses that don't comply with the law and knowingly hire illegal aliens? E-Verify actually provides honest employers with a "safe harbor" by using a tool approved by the government. If they are found with illegals on their payrolls, they can defend themselves by showing they used E-Verify.

Since employment is the magnet that draws illegal aliens into the U.S., it follows that the best way to reduce illegal immigration is to shrink the employment magnet. To accomplish this without resorting to the method of routinely rounding up and deporting thousands of illegal workers only to have them return and obtain another readily available job, policy should focus on the businesses that hire illegal immigrants and let general employment rules rather than individual arrests drive the reduction in illegal immigration.

The policy should be based on the principles of empowerment, deterrence, and information. It should empower honest employers by giving them the tools to determine quickly and accurately whether a new hire is an authorized worker. It should hold employers free from penalty if they inadvertently hire an illegal worker after following the prescribed procedures.

Further, the policy should empower honest employers by freeing them from the burden of competing with dishonest businesses that deliberately hire illegal workers. This means that it must deter dishonest employers who willfully employ unverified and unlawful workers. For deterrence to work, however, both the government and employers must have timely and accurate information regarding new hires. Hence, E-Verify.

All you gubment cheese eating lemmings can just go screw off! Figure out how to be productive then talk to me about licensing and compliance! SCREW OFF VILLAGE!

And all you dishonest employers who hire illegal aliens that are subsidized by the US taxpayers should be prosecuted fully by the law. Placing the bottom line ahead of American workers and the impact of illegal immigration on our society and this country is not something that I support. And dishonest employers are killing the businesses of honest employers who are trying to abide by our immigration laws.

And all you dishonest employers who hire illegal aliens that are subsidized by the US taxpayers should be prosecuted fully by the law.

And there it is, the presumption of guilt. To quote myself:

Aristotle, in the Nichomachean Ethics, elaborated on the question of ends and means with an answer so clear and simple, it is a wonder that “ends justification” was ever mentioned again. He wrote (this is condensed out of a couple of paragraphs), ‘No person selects an end unless it is a means to something else. There are no “Ends.” There are only means.’

This is a classic case of a perfectly laudable "end" (deporting illegals), used to justify an abominable means. The "means" you would employ is to empower the Federal government to have its trembling hand on a national registry with the power to deny employment. No founder of this nation would have ever tolerated such a power, but especially when it is totally unnecessary.

If you think for a minute that within the Federal government such databases are not abused, I have bad news for you, as anybody familiar with Firearms Inquiry Statistical Tracking (FIST) will tell you (item "D" about a third of the way down the page).

Don’t let the illegals in the country. If we find them driving around, walking around, or chewing gum cart them off to the gravel pits. Don’t educate them. Don’t provide health care. Don’t let them own or rent property. Leave me alone.
