Misrata rebels in holding pattern, waiting for help

Moftah Ahmed al-Akrout looks completely out of place walking up and down the front line, shouting at rebel fighters between rapid blasts of heavy arms fire.

At 71 years old, he has made it his personal mission to boost morale on the front lines of Libya's war within.

Al-Akrout is a retired teacher who has decided his new calling is teaching young fighters on the battlefield to believe that they will win.

"I encourage these young people here, asking them to remember God as they fight," he said. "Most of them are my former students. I support them, encourage them and help guide them spiritually."

One of the young men who was there Thursday to hear al-Akrout's cheers died in battle before dawn Friday.

Opposition commanders say they have ordered their fighters on the nearby front lines of Misrata to hold their positions and not to advance. The ragtag fighters on the three front lines surrounding the central Libyan coastal city have been in a holding pattern for weeks.

At this point, they are using all they have to hold off Moammar Gadhafi's forces, which commanders and rebel fighters have seen trying to advance toward the town again.

"Fighting has been intense at times and calm at others," said 23-year-old rebel fighter Hussein Mukthar. "It has been really intense on Fridays. (Gadhafi) uses all types of weapons and tanks that day; last Friday was really exceptional in terms of intensity. (Gadhafi's forces) used tanks, rockets, anti-aircraft weapons, Grad (missiles) -- you name it, they used it!"

Rebel commanders say their fighters cannot take more ground in this area without outside help.

To be fair, Dennis Kuninch from Ohio is consistent on this issue.

But . . . but I thought they already had outside help.

This whole affair would have been much less costly and much quicker if NATO and the Obama Administration had been more honest about what they’re doing. They should have stated at the outset that, in their opinion, it’s time for the Muslim Brotherhood and Al Quada to have sway in the Middle East. The can’t accomplish that with rulers like Qadafi and Mobarak, who had somewhat good relations with the US and helped to hold Al Quada at bay. Their “brutal dictatorsips” and “human rights abuses” never seemed to bother them before, any more than China’s does. A “strongly worded statement” has been about as far as the protest ever went.

They should have stated from the outset that the killing of Mubarak and Qadafi was the priority, then marched in and done so without this protracted “not war”. NATO and the US has already determined what the outcome of this farce will be. It’s a little insulting to our intelligence to keep calling it a “humanitarian” mission. Furthermore, the support of a group of “rebels” whom we have absolutely no idea of what their objectives or alliances might be is abject stupidity that will not end well for anyone who has notions of “democracy” winning the day.

Thank goodness that there are others thinking as you do. This is indeed the goal, to open up not only Libya, but the entirety of sub Saharan Africa to the Muslim Brotherhood
and Islamofascism. There will be genocidal blood and fire there as a result. Indeed, the actions of Obama and his administration have been decidedly fascist, clothed in the habits of “democracy’, when in fact there is nothing “democratic” about the Muslim Brotherhood at all.Hamas = The Muslim Brotherhood.

This is also a betrayal of not only our allies , but of Israel. It is a far reaching plan, and one which is not supported by Congress or the American people.

Obama has bought ths silence of Comgess and the people, partly because he is a minority president, whose supporters are very quiuck to play the race card in defence of his activities and public criticism .

I do not really care what race Obama is. His philsophy and actions show him to be a nationalist socialist bent on a new world order which is unacceptable to a free nation such as ours.Thats just a fact. And it needs to be cried to the masses, regardless of whether they be minority or not.Our very freedoms are at stake,as well as our prosperity.

This pretty much explains it all:

I would much rather see Herman Caine or Lt. Col. Allan West as president of the United States, the current edition is a treasonous son of a w#ore bound for ignominy. He has earned nothing else according to the wages of freedom.
