I’m so glad, Art. Good will triumph, and right will win, and it is comforting to know that there are good kids out there who will grow up to be strong and courageous, and carry us forward into the future. I’ll bet you a lot of these potential little heroes are living in Idaho.

Ken Curtis appeared on Gunsmoke as a totally different character on at least one episode before creating Festus. The first time I saw that show and recognized Curtis was just recently. He was actually a decent looking man when he wasn’t playing Festus. Festus was really my all time favorite character on Gunsmoke, followed by Doc Adams.
Ken Curtis was an amazing singer. Better than most of those who were far better known.

I saw that episode too recently. He wore suits and acted as a skirt chasing, heart breaking womanizer. I also saw him in a Wagon Train episode recently where he played an Indian trained in the white man's ways.

Ward Bond also played in “Gone With The Wind”! I think he must’ve been in a number of similar movies. He played a Yankee Captain.(I think)I don’t know if you’ve seen that. A lot of people have. If you haven’t; you should see it!

I’m glad you enjoyed those sites. I too have downloaded both radio shows and some movies in times past. And The Old Corral is a favorite of mine, my being a fan of B-Westerns since a youth back in the early ‘50s. I’d watch them every Saturday on TV.
Baggy pants. Yep, I sure do remember them. I have all kinds of photos of family dressed like that. It was totally different than the form-fitting clothing of today. I also remember all the flowery dresses the women wore, and the hairdos.
I’m into family genealogy, so I’ve collected a lot of that kind of stuff over time. Not a lot of photos beyond what I already had, but documents and such. It really opens up an understanding of where we came from.

Ken Curtis all the way. I just watched him a couple of hours ago in the Searchers on AMC. I also saw the episode of have gun where he was made up like an old man—I almost missed that it was him. A very good actor, and singer of course.
Festus Haggen is an American icon, yeah he got a little goofy in the later episodes, but it was an awesome goofyness. He had a mule named Ruth and a bevy of aunts with masculine names. I think my favourite is the one where him and Quint get rowdy, the hangover scene is classic.

Yup, and both brothers were on two of the top-rated programs at the same time, “Gunsmoke” and “Mission: Impossible.”
