Talk radio host Mark Levin added to a growing chorus against Charles Krauthammer yesterday, saying hes sick and tired of the pundits smears against Palin.
Levin took issue with much of the common criticisms of Palin, particularly those concerning whether or not she can win the 2012 election and how she left her governorship post early, which is normal for presidential candidates, Levin says.
So what is it? Whats the problem? he said. Shes solid on social issues. Shes solid on fiscal issues. Shes solid against these subsidies against big companies in other words, she is not a corporatist. Shes not a crony or a believer in that. Shes solid on taxes and spending. Im just confused. Shes solid on Israel. Shes solid on the military. Shes solid with respect to our allies. Is there some big issue thats disqualifying? What because the liberals dont like her?
Im getting sick and tired, as I said yesterday, last week and Ive said over the months Im getting sick and tired of these smears by Krauthammer against her, Levin said. Hes a thoroughly decent man, I understand, but he doesnt seem very decent in this regard and I dont know why. Hes certainly owes us a column or a better explanation, doesnt he? He wants to influence the outcome.
Levin is spot-on. Krauthammer is not the only one and Sarah Palin isnt the only object of his disdain. Krauthammer, Karl Rove and other conservative strategists have derided Herman Cain and Donald Trump, as well. Maybe its in the nature of punditry to point out the flaws in a politicians pedigree, and its certainly within the scope of commentary to poke holes in a candidates policy positions, but, when thoughtful criticism becomes insistent censure-for-the-sake-of-censure, it reveals little more than the pundits superior view of himself.
But what I like best about Levins comments are not his criticisms of Krauthammer. What I like best are his affirmations of Palin not so much because of any personal affinity for her, but because of a personal affinity for positivity. Ive thought this repeatedly, as pundit after pundit and columnist after columnist has pointed out all thats wrong with the GOP field. It seems to me a more productive approach might be first to enumerate each candidates qualifications and then pick whichever candidate out-qualifies the rest. Build on the positive, in other words, rather than merely point out the negative. If conservative critics just have to criticize somebody, let it be Obama.
Excellent point.
Over 90% of the time, that critical DEFINITIONAL distinction is not made.
Regarding therapy, you’d think the “brilliant” Chuck would know that all the promise lies in ADULT stem cell research and application. Praise be to God.
skeeter is right about Rove and Krauthammer~!
The left LIVES for muddled definitions,
because if anyone truly understands them, they are disgusted by them.
They say stem cell research when they really mean embryonic stem cell research,
and the underlying goal is to keep the human embryo out of the realm of “human” in order to keep baby killing in the womb legal.
“daughter ride on the back of a motorcycle”
The motorcycle probably never went faster than 20 mph. Did you notice that Palin’s Harley driver was a lady?
So would Cristie have to quit as NJ governor if he runs?
Good for Levin to stand up for Sarah.
I would vote for Palin in a second, but worry that she may not be the right candidate to win this time because of the negative image that has been manufactured.
Read an anti-Palin column today in the WSJ that seems to confirm my fears — “The Problems with Palin”, by Stassel.
Key quote:
“The stakes in 2012 are high. Mr. Obama is a sitting president. It will take a mighty GOP nominee (not to mention a lot of luck) to knock him off. Mrs. Palin would come into this race with little or no infrastructure, a near complete lack of a policy agenda, and eye-popping unfavorables. Nothing is impossible in politics, but her start is not encouraging.”

Neocons are Trotskyites. EVERYTHING is ideology to them. Krauthammer is a neocon.
I believe that impression would change FAST during a campaign. The excitement would build, the admiration for her would grow, the negatives would disappear.
Besides, I refuse to let SNL choose my candidate for me.
Ditto for Texas. Totally freaked out system that needs to be changed. All primaries on same day. Photo ID required.
Palin - Hawaii Pacific college
North Idaho College
Matanuska-Susitna College
University of Idaho - B.S. Communication/Journalism
Obama - Occidental College Fr/Soph
Columbia University - Jr/Sr
Harvard Law - Magnum Cum Laude
What irritates me is when Juan Williams uses the word, Jealousy, when he compares Governor Palin to Congresswoman Bachmann. It really ticks me off when these men state that only one woman can run. They should also state that Governor Romney should be the only man that can run. They dont hear themselves talk and how sexist their speech is towards a female presidential contender. It really is a turn off.
“The left LIVES for muddled definitions”
Also note the Constitutional citizenship requirements for the US President. If they did not keep THAT issue muddled, O would never have been allowed to run!
Some people have a fear of growing up and being responsible for themselves, and they hate it when other people do grow up and take responsibility.
Krauthammer was Walter Mondale’s speech writer.
Krauthammer is about as conservative as Kathleen Parker, i.e. labeled as such to get pundit gigs with the lamestream media.
“Embryonic stemcells have produced nothing but cancer.”
Justice.
One of Levin’s best shows!
You failed to factor in the affirmative action quotient as well as what I believe to be the real story of obama, his claiming on college entrance forms to be a foreigner.
Also, I’ve know quite a few college educated idiots with zero common sense and zero ability to function in the real world.
