If they, the white farmers, came to the United States, would they be classified as African-American?

I thought someone tried that and failed; I do remember Kerry’s wife was going to be our first “African-American frist lady”.

Some of them have already been denied. The remaining ones probably can't afford the high attorney fees, transportation costs and other relocation costs.

I know a white immigrant to the US from South African who says he got a full-ride scholarship from Tulane for his senior year, once he got his citizenship. He also said the black clerk in the financial aid office was not amused when he showed up asking for an African-American scholarship application.

My daughter went to school with a girl who's family left South Africa and were very well off and very white. When she applied to college she suddenly was getting all these unsolicited offers for scholarships from excellent schools. The high school had her classified as "African American", and with her grades she was suddenly a hot item. So this WEALTHY kid from a priveledged family got a full ride to an Ivy League college...

If they, the white farmers, came to the United States, would they be classified as African-American? Only on Hawaiian birth certificates.
