A man who appeared in a Navy SEAL uniform at a Thousand Oaks school event this week apparently never served in the Navy, military officials said Wednesday.
Salhem Dreasden was among those in uniform Tuesday at a tribute to soldiers at Ladera School. The school was honored at the event for outstanding patriotism and support of the armed forces.
Dreasden was wearing a Navy uniform that bore his last name, the words "SEAL TEAM," the trident pin insignia of the elite unit and twin bars indicating the rank of Navy lieutenant.
The name Salhem Dreasden, however, does not appear anywhere in databases of Navy service members that go back to at least the Vietnam War, said Katie Suich, a spokeswoman for the Navy Personnel Command in Tennessee. There aren't any S. Dreasdens in the database, either, she said.
Federal law prohibits the unauthorized wearing of a U.S. military uniform

“BTW, and Ive been out of the Navy for awhile, I dont think thats a Navy uniform.”
Is that a Coast Guard uniform? I have seen Coast Guard people in similiar looking blue uniforms, but fat boy’s uniform might be black.
>The guys pretty chubby for a Seal<
He IS chubby for a “Seal”...not a S.E.A.L.
The only uniforms I have ever seen SEALs wear is either BDUs, khakis, or Dress Uniform. To something like a school visit, I would expect khakis. To an awards ceremony, I’d expect Dress Uniform, regardless of venue.
Yeah I noticed it was black too. The CG and Navy coveralls are both legit blue. Dress “blues” are actually black.

The “stolen valor act” was NOT a violation of free speech (you leftist moron judges) any more than any other type of FRAUD would be.
SEALs hunt down posers.
Of the 23 million men who have served in the US Army since WWII, 303 have received this award.
It's an MP Badge...
They were worn on the Class B uniform back in the 'white hat' MP days. Like the sleeve brassard, they were only worn by MPs on-duty as identification and were not considered a skills badge or personal decoration. They have subsequently been issued to MPI Investigators which, when presented with their credentials serve as ID when working in plain clothes. This guy is truly a buffoon.
One more dead giveaway ~ Unless uniform regs have changed drastically, no one, and I mean NO ONE, in the USNavy wears a black under shirt. Black turtle neck, possibly with dungarees, but never a black undershirt.
I’ve got a good friend who is a decorated vet of OIF, however he also greatly exaggerates his service. For example he claims he was in Desert Storm - he wasn’t. He claims he went to SERE school - he didn’t. Very odd as he has no reason to make this stuff up. The things he actually did are hooah enough.
K...thanks! I had an MI badge after completing 35E school and looks nothing like the MP badge. Got to see them all of 10 minutes until my active duty deployment. Hell, they shipped our BNCs to a SCIF in theater!
That guy is to young to have done all of that and gotten that fat!!!
I was USMC from 68-72. When I got out, all mine went into several garment bags, with mucho mothballs, in the attic, where they stayed for years. In the late 80's my then two teenage daughters asked me if I could drive them to an Army-Navy store, because the kids in school were starting to wear military stuff...I guess it was a fashion statement. Living in the NYC suburbs, I think I was the only parent who had served in the military. So I told them..we don't have to go, there's several bags of my uniforms up in the attic. Girls had a ball...
Reminds me of the quote by Navy Diver, Steve Waterman...”There were about 500 SEALs that operated in Vietnam, and Ive met all 20,000 of them,
Yeah, but ours were fatter, and darker, kind of copper or bronzish....said counter intelligence special agent.
