Vote Yes on Measure A, and Stop the Wealthy Fat-Cat University Professors From Controlling Chico

For the first time since the leftists convinced the voters to move the local elections to November, the citizens have a chance to regain control of Chico. To begin with, the campaign against Measure A does not tell you is that the local elections were originally moved to November so that the leftists could gain the support of students who lived here only to go to college, but went home after completing each semester. This was done so that the wealthy fat-cat university professors could control the agenda of Chico's city council by stacking it with leftists socialists who would be beholden to them. They have been wildly successful, and the proof of their success is in the way Chico is beginning to resemble such enclaves of radicalism as in Berkley CA, Austin TX, Chapel Hill NC, Duluth MN, and even Helena MT. All these towns have many things in common. For example: their city governments' being controlled by the local universities resulting in low paying jobs, high unemployment, nice parks and quaint little restaurants where wealthy fat-cat professors eat.

I have never been one to shy away from speaking my mind, and now I refuse to do so about the fact that having the election moved to June will not only limit the participation of students, but also reduce the influence that the university has on our town. However, if students attending Chico State are actually living in Chico during the summer months, then they will still be able to register and vote for the way they think Chico should be run. If you leftists are so sure that the voters of Chico want the type of policies that have been implemented since the city elections were changed in the mid 1980's, then why not allow those citizens who live year round in Chico to decide the outcome, instead of counting on temporary students who really have no skin in the game beyond their classroom assignment handed out by their wealthy fat-cat college professors?

It is a fact that those who have benefited from moving the local elections to November are all beholden to those professors at Chico State who are certified socialists. The university continually supports the most socialist candidates on the ballot, and once those candidates get elected they do the bidding of their benefactors at Chico State. It is a fact that the influence of Chico State has retarded the growth of Chico. Those who support the policies of the university have continually stood in the way of the type of progress that would allow the children born and raised in Chico to stay in Chico when their schooling is complete. They do so by continually standing in the way of any type of industry that would pay a salary one needs to survive. Instead, Chico is inundated with minimum wage service jobs that will never promise a bright future for those who would like to raise their children here as they were raised. Thanks to the university-controlled city council, Chico is losing it's best asset, the children born and raised here.

Along with allowing only low-wage service jobs, the Socialists of Chico State have convinced their puppets on the city council to waste millions on projects that have only helped to widen the gap between the haves and the have-nots. All the while raising taxes and implementing new ones to pay for their party. As of January 2011 the city of Chico was already over $9 million in debt, and by stopping businesses like Wal-Mart from expanding and other businesses from setting up shop in Chico, that $9-million debt can only get much larger.

I must admit that it sounds so wonderfully small-town America to say we want nice parks and quaint little restaurants that have cobblestone sidewalks out front. Unfortunately, you cannot bed down a family in the park, and it really is demeaning to take walks on those cobblestone sidewalks to look through the windows of those quaint restaurants and see wealthy fat-cat professors eating while being waited on by employees who barely make minimum wage. So while the rich professor eats steak and drinks expensive wine, the waiter is hoping to make enough taxed tip money to feed his starving children. Now, before you accuse me of making false statement, 60 minutes did a story about 25% of America's children living in poverty. It's my guess that none of those starving homeless children are the progeny of those wealthy professors who's policies have helped create the 12.3% unemployment in Chico.

What the local media and the leftists will not admit is that the anti-business climate that has been implemented by the university's leftist stooges on the city council has contributed to Chico's high unemployment rate. This unemployment rate, by the way, was already one of the highest in California even before the recession hit. It is a fact that because of the influence of Chico State, the rights enjoyed by the local citizens are being consistently eroded. It is a fact that the influence of Chico State has consistently made Chico a laughing stock around the country.

I will not shy away from the truth about this election. This election is about limiting the influential grip the leftist professors at Chico State have on Chico politics. This election is about returning the city council back to the citizens of Chico. This election is about turning back the hands of time, back to when wealthy fat-cat socialist university professors had no more influence over local elections than the father of four who works for minimum wage at the local restaurant. This election is about saving millions of dollars, because we don't need any more parks, or cobblestone sidewalks that only benefit Chico State by luring more students to attend college for the primary purpose of indoctrinating them into voting the way the wealthy fat-cat professors vote in our November elections.

Stop the wealthy fat-cat university professors of getting their way by voting YES on measure A.

I know there are a few freepers who live in Chico that are already on board with yes on A, but if any of my fellow freepers have friends or relatives living here I would appreciate it if you could please contact them. They need to understand the truth, and as usual the MSM is not helping to educate them on measure A.

We desperately need to reduce the universities influence on our local elections. When you consider that 14,000 students attend Chico state, you can imagine how they can effect the outcomes.

In my town of Chico, there is a measure on the ballot to change the day of local elections from the first Tuesday in November, to the First Tuesday in June. This is primarily for the purpose of eliminating the effect of the university in our elections. As you may guess the left has all their cohorts out obfuscating the issue and it is a battle that sadly the conservatives are too afraid to admit the truth.

I for one have talked to many who feel it is wrong to disenfranchise the students from voting, but after I explain the simple truth that if a student lives here in June they can still vote, it gets their attention. Then when I explain the way the elections were originally in June, but changed to November by fooling the public simply to get control of Chico, well then every person I talked to agree to vote yes for the measure. When will conservatives stop worrying about the way the left lies and just fight with the truth? After all, it works most times it is tried, and as they say no guts no glory. Anyway, I wrote this for my paper and decided I will say what everyone knows but is afraid to admit. I also decided to play their game by calling the university professors, wealthy fat-cats. After all, they are some of the wealthiest people in Chico, all paid by our tax dollars...............

I love Chico, and my wife and I would have made it our permanent home two decades ago when we first married. But even then, prices on homes (and everything else) were way over budget by Butte County standards.

Now a true story: About 20 years ago, my wife and I were strolling the campus during some sort of fair/event. There was a booth where participants could take a little quiz to determine where they stood on the political spectrum, and there was a large board that showed you where you stood in relationship to everyone else who took the quiz. So I took the quiz, of course, and after grading it, she placed my marker further to the right than any other participant. If you can believe this, after doing so, she looked right at me, gave me the Nazi salute, and said "Heil, Hitler!"

I was a bit shocked. I asked her if she knew what Nazi stood for, but of course she didn't answer. And that was 20 years ago! I can imagine the newest crop of youngsters is even more indoctrinated.

The average CA State University professor makes $74,000 a year. Less than I do - but then again I have to live in high price L.A. for my job.

Look at the salaries and benefits of every tenured professor in America, and you will find that every one fits that category these days.

Well, they ARE wealthy compared to what their work would earn them in the private sector (at least humanities professors).

As one with a MA, I came to realize how much money we are throwing away, subsidizing the production of utterly useless, and value-less, information.

Better rethink that, 90% of the residents who are raised in Chico and decide to stay make less than $30,000.00 a year. Unemployment was one of the highest in the state before the recession, and now it is in the mid teens. If you look at the unadjusted numbers the unemployment is almost 30%.

Most new homes purchased in the last 10 years have been purchased by those who live in Sacramento or near it, and they commute. Chico was fast becoming a bedroom city as most residents were priced out of the market due to their low salaries. By far 85% of jobs are service industry, because the left has destroyed any chance of real good paying industry jobs from locating here.

So yes, compared to the locals, the university professors are wealthy fat-cat socialists.

I guess your definition of wealthy is way different than mine. Their median salaries are middle-class to upper middle class at best. Certainly nowhere close to wealthy.

But California is a ridiculously expensive place to live and wages there are all scaled upwards accordingly. They still are not wealthy fat-cats by any stretch of the imagination.

First off, we are talking about California's university professors who average over $100,000.00 a year, and Deans who make in excess of $150,000.00 a year. All with full benefits they do not contribute a single penny to. Then if they write a book, which every tenured prof is expected to do, they get deals where almost every university and many high schools in the country will purchase their book for their library. How much do you think they are making on royalties from their books that just sit on the shelf and never get read.

We can also add the tens of thousands they make for lectures where they attend conventions that amount to no more than socialist circle jerks. Also, when they attend these conventions and most other travel around the country for university business (and everything to them is related to their job) the university picks up the tab. All the while most of the time they are not even teaching their class, some graduate student is for a better grade.

All told, many of these professors can make in excess of $250,000.00 a year. Remember, Al Gore, their little god, is the one who said thatr if you make a million in four to five years you are a millionaire, so if the shoe fits.

See, I didn't make the rules of class warfare, they did. They are the ones who claim that a small business man is wealthy, when most small business owners are barely making ends meet. If those who make the rules cannot abide by them, that is not my problem, just my target.

The value of their work is a discussion for another day. This is about what constitutes being a wealthy fat-cat, and college professors are not that. Many of them are just well-paid hippies.

How many Chico State University professors are making tens of thousands a year for giving lectures?

Chico is a little nothing town and CSU is a joke of a school.

I wouldn’t pay much more than $100 to have their ‘best and brightest’ give a lecture on any subject to any audience.
