Why can’t the ambulance chasers take up a class action suit against GE on these hazardous bulbs?

I'm not the greatest at reading graphs, but since the green line is above the red line, does that mean that energy use will actually increase with CFL use?

If so, that's an additional reason to get rid of the darn things.

Thank you. Bush was as bad as a Democrat in many areas.

The list of government CRAP is almost endless. Toilet flushing, light bulbs by dimbulbs, air conditioning refrigerant, fuel standards, parking spaces for the handicapped, and a thousand other issues in that regard. Just consider how much federal government is found in the average vehicle. Seat belts, air bags, fuel use standards, glass, weight, safety standards galore, lighting, and on and on. The list is indeed endless, not to mention DISGUSTING.

WE THE PEOPLE are just incapable of regulating our lives to the standards of bureaucrats liberals, and elected officials.

No—I haven’t seen that discussion, and would like to. What is TSP?

Your chart shows that incandescents, then, use 12% of 4.65% of the electricity generated... or .558% of electricity generated.

This shows it’s about CONTROL, not about being more efficient.

Just as a site that I post often says - man-made CO2 accounts for 0.117% of the total greenhouse effect.

It’s about control of people’s energy usage, and therefore control of people.

Does anyone know if this phase out includes the ‘industrial incandescent’ bulb also? I know they make a separate bulb for use in hospitals and other industrial apps that are longer life than the household bulb.

No...the red stripe is what energy use is WITH incandescents...and the green stripe is what light bulb usage in residences would be if there was 100% adoption of CFL’s.

MrB is exactly correct...this is about control.

Tri-Sodium Phosphate

Phosphates are banned from laundry and dishwasher detergents in many areas. Most manufacturers have gone to nationwide formulations, so all areas get phosphate-free product.

You can still manage to buy real TSP as a painting prep cleaning chemical, but you have to be careful you are getting the real stuff. You then add a little to your dishwasher or laundry detergent.

Here are a couple of recent threads on the topic.

Actually, my graph is correct. In the yellow rectangle it is explained...

Of ALL energy used, 4.65% of that goes to ALL residential uses.

Of ALL residential uses, 12% of THAT goes to lighting (which is the red stripe that takes up 12% of the mustard colored pipeline inbound into the Residential block (approximately, I just winged it to get the relative width somewhat the right size)

Does that make sense? It is kind of a hard concept to explain, but I got that 12% of all residential use is lighting number from the Department of Energy website.

Yes, but it’s a pain in the neck. And pointless, too, inasmuch as the restaurant stuff still has the phosphates in it.

If you look at the graph, the other two lines leading into residential use are Gas (4.87% of all energy use is gas usage going directly to residential uses, heating, dryers, stoves, etc) and Oil (1.16% of all energy use is oil usage going directly to homes as heating oil) both of which don’t contribute to lighting.

-—This, and the fact that the dishwasher detergent is now crap-by-government-mandate.-—

You can still get the good dishwasher detergent.
