Right action, wrong choice of words:
“I’ve chosen not to attend because these sessions have been lectures not discussions. My information is that the President still has no plan, which is to say the only one on the table is ours.
If the President has a new plan, I welcome a conversation about it with him, but the numbers I have, we all have, in front of us outweigh the rhetoric.
The time for talk has past us by. This should be clear to the President by now.”
No, wrong action.
Right action would have been to attend, and if (as expected) Obama turned into a lecturer once again, reply comments along the lines of what you've spelled out.
As things stand now, he clearly does not "welcome a conversation," as he peremptorily turned down the opportunity to have it.
As it is now, he's simply marginalized himself to no good end. Dumb.
Not unusual for different people having different ways to express themselves on any given situation. Sometimes a polite exclamation and sometimes the old story about a mule and a 2x4 can serve. With Obama and his enablers I think the veritable 2x4 is appropriate.
I think his words were perfect!

I think they were the right actions and the right words, especially after seeing this headline earlier today...
