Rep. Anthony Weiner says he cant say with certitude that the lewd photo of a mans crotch sent using his Twitter account to one of his followers isnt of him.
I didnt send that picture out, Weiner said in an interview with NBC News.
Thats not a picture of you? reporter Luke Russert asked.
Weiner responded: You know, I cant say with certitude.
The New York Democrat continued to claim that a hacker sent the photo to a 21-year-old college co-ed in Seattle.
My system was hacked, pictures can be manipulated, dropped in and inserted, he said. One reason I asked a firm to look at what the heck happened here is to see maybe something was manipulated, maybe something was dropped in.
We dont know for sure what happened here, Weiner added. But lets try to take a step back. This is a circumstance where someone committed a prank on the internet, spoofed me, made fun of me, whatever. Were taking it seriously in as much we want to make sure it doesnt happen again.
Weiner hasnt called for an official investigation by the FBI or Capitol Police, although he told Russert he has hired a private securty firm to find out what happened. Previously, Weiner had said he hired a lawyer to investigate.
We dont know exactly what happened here. It was a prank, Weiner said.
But Weiner hasnt sought a criminal probe because it is not a national security thing Im not sure I want to put national federal resources into trying to figure out who posted a picture on Weiners website of whatever. Im not really sure it rises, no pun intended, to that level.
And let me say one other thing, he added. I think its fair and reasonable to ask some of the questions. It was a prank, still, I think its fair to ask the question. I think we have to be careful not to take this out of context. this is not a national security matter. This is not an instance were not making a federal case out of this and I dont think anyone else should. But the things I do want to work on in Congress here are being interrupted by this, which I think is the intention of the person that did this to begin with.
Maybe they are in the dark?
We have precedent...
Frank, Clinton, Jackson, etc.......
This should be every bit the career ender as it was for the Congressman accused of prowling Craigslist for trannies with shirtless pictures.
In fact, these photos are worse. Which one of them would get arrested on a beach for approaching a young woman? It’s not the bare chested man.
Weiner will need to caucus with Barney’s Frank before disclosing any more information.
The saddest part of this whole story may be Jon Stewart being overwhelmed by the size of the package concerned.
It is time for him to be a man and admit what he did. Then Congress can decide what to do with him. This lying SOB is claiming a federal crime was committed by a hacker. Dan Wolfe, a possible suspect (which he has denied), has received death threats. This is out of hand, Weiner.
“Weiner looks like someone who was given A LOT of wedgies as a kid..just look at him..he makes Pee Wee Herman look normal”
I remember someone posting his HS yearbook photo here and commenting that he looked like someone who got stuffed into lockers a lot.
But how does he know those are his underwear? America has fallen so far. Can’t believe this is the news of the day. Just sad.
With junk that tiny, I can say with certitude that he doesn’t have to worry about beating off the women with a stick.
You know what this incident and picture needs to be put under the micro-scope........literally.
He is SO busted!
Wennie is an anoying little person with a big mouth who never answers any questions he is asked.
Even used car saleman don’t trust him and if did’nt have a refelction in the mirror he would not have any trusting friends.
“IT WAS A BOTCHED JOKE!”
lol! Nice job!
