Palin didn't answer when asked how long she's owned the bus that's adorned with the Constitution and a larger-than-life version of her signature. When asked, twice, how much her "One Nation Tour" has cost four days into the trip, she got visibly irritated.
"Check SarahPAC.com," she said. "I don't know why in the world you would ask a question like that. I'm just thinking about America and our foundations and our freedoms and our opportunities. Why would you ask something ..."
ABC News pointed out that she often talks about the economy and how much money we're spending.
"What does our economy have to do with how much we're -- I'm not asking you to pay for a penny of this trip," she said.
Cue the national anthem: the conversation was cut short when a group of school children visiting the monument launched into "The Star Spangled Banner."
SaraPAC.com does not currently offer any information about how much money has been spent on the tour. It does, however, feature a big green "Donate" button, inviting visitors to help fund Palin's trip across the nation.

Most of the posts here are cheerleading, trying to justify Sarah’s answers or providing what the poster thinks would have been a good answer. And she hasn’t even declared officially, she’s just taking a road trip. It’s going to be a long campaign.
Questions about the legitimacy of spending, both government and personal, have to be fielded by politicians constantly.
Given that she’s using her big painted bus touring the country, one would have to assume that the question of who’s paying for this would come up many times. It should have had a nice planned answer - one that helped, could be used to her benefit in sound bites, had a nice catchy phrase in it to boot. Essentially, an advertisement for SarahPac every time the question is asked.
Every Repub candidate is going to be asked where’d you get that suit, how can you afford that house, how come you have more than one car, etc. Conservative women candidates must be ready for the classic unfair leftstream attitude: they try to paint the woman’s clothes as cheap junk, unless they look fantastic, then they paint the woman as a clothes hog. We all know it’s not fair that only Repubs are hounded by the leftPress, that Dems are given a 100% pass (I mean really, the Kennedy clan is concerned about the poor?), but that’s the way it is. What do good parents tell children when they hear the “it’s not fair” whine ? Sorry, life’s not fair. Conservatives are, consequently, out there working hard at creative ways to succeed anyway, and Sarah’s tour is an example of that.
Politicians have to be ready for hecklers, just like comedians. Like that Allen West video where he shuts down the heckler, and the crowd cheers. He did that on his own, off the cuff, and his fans got to laugh and cheer at the video, instead of getting to Monday-morning-quarterback his fumbling, saying the heckler was stupid, or Allen should have said this or that. Some people can come up with “comebacks” on the fly; others are hit once and take the hit, but go home and come up with material, and the next time they get the same gotcha, they’re ready with a real zinger. Either way, those seeking or holding political office can’t rely on their fans when faced with gotcha questions.
That being said, I certainly wish Sarah the best, for her heart truly is in the right place. She just has to realize that conservative politicians need to have a love-hate relationship with the leftstream press. They can’t be completely alienated by the politician, as much as they would like to. They just want a good newsworthy story to get themselves a headline. And even press members that could be classified as “enemy” or in the completely opposite camp. If they get thrown a bone once in a while, along with everyone else, perhaps when the day comes that the President asks for a little decency and respect, they will remember the past. That, to me, was an important part of Reagan’s tactics: he had a rough and tough back and forth with them, but engendered mutual respect from most of the press.
I sense ozone in his future.
Perhaps we should give him some of my horrible coffee.
