Actually, I think Sarah would smile, thank him and shake his hand. And then Piper would kick him in the shin.

I don’t know that. I think she was very effective in Alaska. I wish she had finished out her term. My brother lives there and she was well loved.

See, this is what I don’t like about some of the posters on FR. You make an intelligent point. I don’t really agree with you but you make me think. Because I’m not a Palin Acolyte I’m able to consider what you actually wrote.

I think this is why people like Peggy Noonan and Kraut hate all of us cavemen in fly over country. Most of us don’t really care what they think but we don’t benefit by making enemies of them. We’re all so quick to fling poo instead of actually thinking. Myself included.

My hope is that she runs for the Senate in Az. and uses that has a stepping stone. She is certainly young enough to serve two terms in the Senate and still run for President in the future.

No. 2012 is different from any other election in our history. That year will be recorded as the year that patriotic Americans turned back the tide of socialism or as the year that America died as a free country. I'm not overstating the risk, and in fact I may not be putting enough emphasis on it. We need Sarah or one of the other top-tier patriotic conservatives in 2012 and not just in the indefinite future.

Good commentary that straddles the pro and anti-Palin arguments. However, we're making the assumption that Krauthammer is absolutely correct in his assertion that Sarah Palin has not educated ('schooled') herself on the intricacies of U.S. foreign policy and the basis of those policies. I do not believe that is necessarily so. Sarah Palin must be well aware that in a presidential (or primary) campaign, she'll be asked tough questions about foreign policy, especially if the leftmedia believe she is 'weak' in that area. If she stumbles, she'll be effectively hooted off the stage by the left and the RINO faction of the GOP that vehemently oppose her.

I don't believe that a few Facebook posting on foreign policy issues by Sarah Palin are the sum of her knowledge on these subjects. Aside from that contention, the fact remains that all presidents surround themselves with foreign policy advisors, usually people who have spent the entire careers in this field and know what they're talking about. President Bush did this. His book about his presidency ('Decision Points') makes this unambiguously clear. It's axiomatic that a 'President Palin' would do likewise. I can easily see a John Bolton as a major source of foreign policy counsel for Palin.

I recall that during the 2000 presidential campaign a TV reporter, hostile to George W. Bush and eager to pin the 'dummy' label on him (even then) asked him if he knew the names of the president of one or two tiny, remote Third-world nations. Bush did not and the reporter smugly assumed that he had made his point. However, he was roundly criticized for playing a lame 'gotcha'! game and as we all know, Bush was elected, anyway. Just some food for thought.

How about you support this claim "She couldn't even keep her own points straight; and she just ignored some of the realities of what Karzai was saying." with some facts?

Sarah does not meet his criteria it would seem in foreign policy. She gets the big picture in his mind so he says, but is not a policy wonk and does not know the nuts and bolts details enough to suit him. Has he asked this question of the Party Boy/RINO approved candidates? No, and it will not be asked.

Now one begs to ask would he prefer her or four more years of Boy Blunder on an extended apology tour. The liberals of the GOP have been on the top of the ticket since 1988 with totally disastrous results for the party and at times for the country. It’s time for the liberals of the party to step aside or be moved aside and they shall not go quietly into the night...

Charley K is a Democrat.
He worked for lefty Sen Walter Mondale and Carter and Sen Monahan ( deceased ) and other Dems too .
His whole conservative scam is based on the fact that as a Dem pundit he would be just another lefty in a sea of lefties in DC.

I trust nothing coming out this creeps mouth.

I think what Charles K. means is, Sarah hasn’t cow-towed to the established, Republican elite. She hasn’t made phone calls asking for their help in being schooled. Therefore, in their minds, she shouldn’t be considered a viable candidate, and she will dash their chances in 2014.

Here is the problem with his thinking,...what the F does he know? Has he ever ran for a political office? Surmising, ruminating, and talking-heading doesn’t make one an expert in the conservative electorate’s choice for president.

There is no doubt Sarah needs to start surrounding herself with quality people up front to beef up her depth on the issues. More people have to start feeling more comfortable with her. She needs to start writing....alot!,...of OP-EDs, on all issues. She has the legs to debate, she has great appeal across many spectrums. She just needs to have people out front talking on her behalf who have met with her and feel comfortable with her ability to make decisions on our country’s behalf.

The rest of the declared field is borrrrrrrrriiiiiing.

“Do you think they held Reagan to the same “schooling” standards when he ran for POTUS?”

####

I don’t think even Reagan was subjected to the electron microscopy level “standards” scrutiny of Sarah Palin’s every move. For me, the only interesting aspect concerning the stale and tired brick throwers, is what specifically is it about Sarah Palin that they REALLY fear?

So does PDS stand for:

Palin Derangement Syndrome or

Palin Double Standard?

Thank you, my feelings exactly with the attacks on one’s opinion. The attack mindset here is becoming more and more prevalent, like that dim underground place.

Maybe it has to do with the anger (and I have a lot) with the path this country is being led down lately.

"Such dumbassery is a result of lack of schooling: she's not paying attention to what's happening and could happen over there, she's just reacting to what Karzai said. Even just remembering the situation in Iraq, circa 2006, should caused her reason to pause and reflect before speaking."

Unfortunately the tendency to shoot off her mouth before doing her homework is not limited to the situation over there. If she seeks to fill the role of a gadfly who irritates the left, there is no problem, but this approach will not do in a political leader.

How does Charles Krauthammer know that she hasn't 'schooled herself'? From the statements she's been making for the last year regarding foreign policy, etc., it sounds as though she knows about what she speaks. Charles may disagree with her views, and that's why he's saying she's not 'schooled', but it's clear to anyone who reads what she has to say that she's very much aware of America's involvement around the world.

Frankly, I don't expect a President to know everything about every subject, but I want someone with the judgement to choose people who DO know about specific subjects in order to provide information and guidance.
