As a transplanted Californian to Dallas Metro, the really great news is we have IN N OUT Burger and Del Taco just announced 2 additional locations. Now, if we can only get Togo's, Pick Up Stix and Wahoo's! And Marie Callander's won't hurt with Claim Jumper too.

Del Taco just announced their return, not just two locations. They were here when I moved in in 1995, but closed their Dallas locations shortly thereafter.

Carl’s Jr finally started getting serious about Dallas area locations, too.

Claim Jumper I am not too concerned with — a Rudy’s is going up 5 minutes away from my house, right down the street from In ‘n Out! Now we need a Rubio’s and a Pollo Loco, with perhaps a La Posta and there’s perfection for you. Been here since March 2005 and wish I had made the move sooner.

Fahget about it....going on 3 weeks, in fact 3 weeks exactly today and lines literally still out the door and at lunch dinner?....Don’t even think about it. Even they never imagined the insanity. Wer’e going tomorrow to IN N OUT around 3.....the wait should be only about 20 minutes.

Forget Pollo Loco, yes. Although we have found something equal. Pollo Salsa in Carrolton (I Think Carrolton) Just off Josey Lane and Keller. Just like Pollo. My Mom thinks it’s better. I Miss Pollo Loco. They are in Texas, but not Dallas Metro. I think in San Antonio.

Pollo Salsa....excellent. http://www.pollosalsa.com/

I meant to say “Forgot” Pollo Loco. Not “forget” Pollo Loco. I am a big fan of Pollo Loco. Good stuff.

Del Taco has their grand opening (return) to Texas late last year. They are in Denton right next to Five Guys. We have been twice and it’s been packed both times. They just announced 2 new locations. McKinney and Irving. Don’t know when those will be open though. Denton is busy though. Del Taco actually has great fries too....of all things.

As a fellow California transplant, I was excited to see that Trader Joe's is coming to Texas!

Yeah..this was big news. Lots of Trader Joe fans in Dallas Metro. I sure wish we had Southern California style Mexican Food though. Tex Mex just don’t do it for me. Every single Tex Mex restaurant used premade, preformed, cheap Taco Bell shells, they use brisket instead of shredded beef. Chile con carne for enchilada sauce, etc. Mariana’s taco shop in Frisco is the closet I have found to authentic So. Cal Mexican food. And they keep fry their own taco shells and use shredded beef and real enchilada sauce. And they are from San Diego, so it makes sense. Just say NO to Tex Mex. :)

The only CA chain I’d really like to see here now is Roundtable Pizza. After that, the entire state can go slide off into the Pacific.

Uh, there are conservative decent people in CA. Millions of them. Just saying..........And great restaurants and San Francisco is a Liberal cess pool, but it’s probably the most beautiful city in the country and San Diego probably has the best year round climate in the entire world. Orange County is where John Wayne lived because it’s gorgeous, like Newport and Corona Del Mar, etc.

Let’s don’t throw out the baby with the bathwater. Or something like that.........

You’re going to the wrong places, then - many DFW TexMex places do all that stuff in house and don’t use the Taco Bell shells.

Also, keep in mind that Mexican varies even in Mexico and the style here is closer to that of northern or central Mexico and is therefore different than that in SoCal or Western Mexico.

Yeah, and? They’re surrounded by a sea of liberals that is ever increasing and their vote doesn’t count. Their tax dollars support an oppressive regime that only wants to crush them. There is ZERO chance they will get a conservative in power. All they can do is wait to get overrun in either a riot or the inevitable collapse, by which time it is too late to leave. Smart people will get out and let the place collapse - we can go retake it later after all the locusts kill each other off out there.

And I say that as someone whose parents still live there. Let. it. burn.

You mean trying to create jobs instead of welfare creates jobs?

Well, we have been to at least 15 different places and some are good, very good. I don’t mean to criticize Tex Mex. I would probably prefer it too if I had grown up here. But most use taco bell type shells for their tacos and brisket and chile con carne. It’s just a preference and yes, you are right about Mexico and different regions.

I guess “authentic Southern CA” mexican food is different from “Authentic Tex Mex”.....it’s just preferences. Point well taken. thanks.

If you’ve been to 15 places, you haven’t been much of anywhere. There are 15 TexMex places in the little town of Addison alone, for Pete’s sake...

You seem hostile towards even California conservatives. I dont understand that attitude. I do find some hostility towards Californians here in Texas.

Seems immature to me. Almost Childlike. The Californians I know who have moved here come with Capital and skills and even relocate their businesses.

Heck, even IN N OUT burger was not real welcomed by some Texans. Glady, most Texans are kind and hospitable. But there’s always a few who seem angry, hostile, and just miserable, mad at the world. I don’t get it. I thought were are all Americans.
