Man killed in SWAT raid was under investigation 20 months, sheriff says
Arizona Daily Star ^ | 5/31/2011 | Fernanda Echavarri

The man killed in a SWAT team raid last month had been under investigation by The Pima County Sheriff’s Department for 20 months as part of a major drug and homicide investigation, Sheriff Clarence Dupnik said Tuesday during an editorial meeting with the Star. But details of the investigation into Jose Guerena’s activities won’t be released because a criminal informant for the sheriff’s department could be in danger, Dupnik said. “There’s a chance that our informant is going to get killed,” he said. Guerena died after SWAT officers fired 71 rounds from the front door of his home in the 7100 block of South Redwater Drive, while serving a search warrant on May 5, department officials have said. Guerena was shot 22 times and died at the scene, according to a preliminary report by the Pima County Medical Examiner’s Office. See Wednesday's Arizona Daily Star for more of this story.

I would say that Dupnik is a little slow, mentally, professionally, and as a Democrat. A veteran got killed and now maybe Dupie’s informant (by whom?)

Way to go Dems.

Without finding anything at the scene this just looks like outright murder to a few million vets out there.
These folks really screwed up and not instead of admitting what they did wrong they are playing CYA and blaming the victim.
This needs to be investigated by the feds!!!!!!!

I guess the reason it is sealed is because they killed someone while executing the warrant.

AZ law allows the judge who issued the warrant to delay its entry into the public record. It's not up to the police, though I imagine they can request the judge to do it.

The only one that deserves to face a firing squad is Sheriff Dipsh*t ...

I would not be surprised to learn that Sheriff Dipsh*t is involved in drug running himself, along with his peculiar “informant.”

Maybe Sheriff Dipsh*t arranged this “hit” on an apparently innocent man so to throw the DEA dogs off his own trail.

Maybe Sheriff Dipsh*t needed to go “Rambo” on “anybody convenient” so to make up for his incompetence in the Tuscon shooting.

Interesting that this dumb ass sheriff keeps releasing info, then telling us he isn’t releasing info.

20 months of investigation and they couldn’t find one single solitary thing illegal in this mans home? Not one? The entire Pima County Sheriff’s Department needs to be fired from Dipsh** all the way down to the lowliest clerk.

And they investigate him for 20 months, but the warrant is for the house and they say he would not have been arrested had he let them in.

Does that strike anyone as odd?

AZ law allows the judge who issued the warrant to delay its entry into the public record.

What would be the point?

They've already released bits of video evidence, along with numerous other comments/evidence regarding this case.

Seems like their stalling.

This whole incident has been one lie after another.

They have been working a week now fabricating a story. This is the latest, They investigated him for 20 months.

Does it really take 20 months to find out if a guy is dealing? What a Mickey Mouse outfit.

“Why isn’t Dupa under investigation for letting Jared run loose?
Who did mommy know who ‘pulled strings’ to keep him out of jail.”
///
those are really really good questionsin #26!
i had forgotten about all that.
you are right, they admitted they investigated him before, found him a threat, and it was recommended he be committed, but stings were pulled and nothing happened.
If we had some HONEST journalists, that Jared story wouldn’t have disappeared. and if McCain and others did what they should have, Sheriff Dupnik would have been in jail, before he had a chance to murder than young Marine.

Dipstick's squad investigated the guy for 20 months, then they fired 71 rounds into his house, hitting him with 22 and let him bleed out in front of his kid while denying medical attention. Oh, but they did find a baseball cap with the words Border Patrol so I guess this guy was a real serious criminal. Probably ran a big crime syndicate in his spare time after working 12 hour shifts at the local mine. So now the informant is in real danger from the surviving members of this big crime syndicate.

Give us a break Dipstick. How about you quit your police job and get yourself checked into a loony bin?

In the meantime, I hope someone organizes a protest in front of the courthouse, and call out the authorities on this one.

"I would hate to be the informant...sounds like the Sheriff is setting up a hit."

Then Dupnik can provide the informant's killer with an insanity plea like he did Loughner.
