So if there is a Financial Doomsday, as many democrats and liberal financial wags were saying, they can’t pin it on the Republicans.
Not really. The vote was about raising the debt ceiling without any conditions. It was defeated with all of the Reps and half of the Dems voting against it.
Aside from this vote saying no to debt limit increases without spending cuts, it also clearly proved the demrat doomsday predictions were a lie.
IMHO this vote will be seen in years to come to be the pivotal ringing of the death knell for American Marxism.
The main problem I have with the GOP bill is that it allows for raising the debt ceiling. I’m just a simple retired soldier. I don’t understand what one has to do with the other. If spending is cut why must the debt ceiling be raised? If someone tells me it is necessary to pay off the monstrous Onada debt I say BS. The way to pay down the debt is to unleash the vast American economic potential. When cash registers start ringing again paying down the debt will take care of itself.
It was a bipartisan failure
It was a bipartisan failure, but a Republican success...
