Before we abandon the auto bailout as a topic, Id like to focus a little more tightly on the interplay it has inspired between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney, because theres something about it that seems strangely familiar.
With the bailout now acknowledged as a rather remarkable success, Romneys staff is trying to claim credit by pointing to an op-ed piece written by the former Massachusetts governor back in November 2008. As the New York Times reports:
Mitt Romney had the idea first, said Eric Fehrnstrom, a Romney spokesman, citing the Times opinion article. You have to acknowledge that. He was advocating for a course of action that eventually the Obama administration adopted.
If you read the op-ed in question, you find theres actually some truth to Fehrnstroms claim.

FUMR!
The first of many flip flops.
Please Oh Merciful God, let not this Charlatan get the nod.
We are really screwed if 2012 turns into another race between two Democrats.
This is breaking news? Why?
“With the bailout now acknowledged as a rather remarkable success,”
I stopped reading at this point. The Atlanta newspaper has become a DNC spokesperson. I do not know of any conservatives who acknowledge the success of the bailout. Any objective analysis will indicate the theft from the secured bond holders, transfer of pension obligations to the taxpayer, GM results largely based on the Delphi sale (the sale was supported by taxpayer bailout of the faltering Delphi pensions), and large government subsidies for the Chevy Volt, a car characterized by the leftist Consumers Union as “what’s the point?”. Even after all of these outrageous legalized corruption, the GM bailout is still a heavy money loser.
Only in LaLa land.
Rare? This guy has been a liberal all along, and will continue to be so, Mitt just so happens to have chosen the Republican party, that doesn’t make him suitable to run it, or govern.

Ditto!!
Mitt Romney. Just when you think he can’t get worse, he does.
IMHO.
It astounds me that anyone could claim the bailouts as a “remarkable success.” GM is very much the pig-in-lipstick that should have gone bankrupt good and proper.
Well the Volt should pretty much finish the job.
Support your local Union.....
Let’s see how Boeing fairs trying the non-union route.
Mandated 300% improvement in manmiles/gallon .... by next year...or else should do it.
