Police escorted the Westboro member to safety and used tear gas to control the crowd.

I have not seen this anywhere on FR, its looks important.
Note to self;when protesting Westboro douchebags, bring the gas mask.
Un-fragging-believable.
I would expect that this band of shyster lawyers put the city on notice as to their intention and spelled out their legal recourse should their constitutional rights be violated.
They are very good at what they do.
But, they are overplaying their hand. Some day, I predict, there will be blood.
I usually go to the source and read comments:

From what I understand the main group from WBC got blocked in at a fuel station 20 miles outside of Joplin. Apparently a trucker or group of truckers blocked them in with their semi-trucks. I don’t know why this is even in the news on KSPRs webdite. Why even give the lowlifes from WBC any media attention. None of the other stations have stooped to cover WBCs disgusting antics”
That day seems to be coming much quicker than I expected.
Has anyone group ever protested outside Westboro Baptist Church? Seems about time some group did!!!
If I am not mistaken, their church is Fred Phelps’ basement.
I doubt they have an actual church, probably more like a legal office.
Fred Phelps is so gay.
"Even though Westboro did not show up, there was a single disturbance on Sunday when a man from northwest Arkansas began preaching and protesting outside of the set protest zone. Authorities led the man to the protest zone that was prepared for Westboro, according to the Globe.
But after the man left the designated zone, members of the Westboro counter protest crowd chased him. Police officers intervened, however, and led him to safety. Reports indicate that mace was used in the altercation, but it is unclear if police used it to control the crowd or if someone else had used it. The man was briefly detained and then taken to the county border and sent off."
That day can’t come soon enough.

I was at the exact location where this lone individual showed up with his homemade hate sign. It was a trifold cardboard sign that said, “Mother of Harlots, God H8s you!” He was dressed in all black and his head was shaved. When he first showed up he was on the south side of Newman Road. When he saw the crowd of people/bikers by the parking lot that was reserved for WBC on the north side of Newman Road, he headed toward the main campus parking lot where he was turned around by officers and brought back to the WBC reserved parking lot. There was only a yellow caution tape separating him from a huge crowd of Patriot Guard Riders and allies. There was a lot of yelling and gestures, then the individual flashed his sign at the crowd. The bikers revved up their motors, the crowd pushed through the yellow tape, and threw plastic bottles and plastic cups at him. He ran away with about 8 policemen between him and the crowd. He was then escorted away from the area. Absolutely NO gas of any kind was sprayed. Afterwards, an officer was walking up and down the road with a canister of OC spray, but later put it away...there were children in the crowd. Everyone was very friendly and patriotic in the crowd. I have heard that he was from NW Arkansas, and not with WBC.”
Similar to what occurred in Mississippi recently. I do believe that a viable tactic is being developed to put an end to the nonsense these folks have been up to, for far too long...

Thank you...
This church group is not of God, but of satan!
Great idea. You're one of the good guys...
