“Think about what it’s like to watch Cheney interviewed- now that is gravitas.”
Gravitas as you illustrate is what an actor demonstrates. Martin Sheen could look just as serious in his answers. I wouldnt want him as president. TRUE “gravitas” is what Sarah has,,, it means no BS. When she says something, you don’t have to figure out where she really stands, or where her loyalties lie. Unlike Cheney.
Cheney is called tough and serious because he’s willing to order better men than himself into battle. (men who must not have “more important things to do”) And meanwhile, stays busy flooding the country with Mexicans, supporting the North American Union, etc. I see very little “conservative” in Cheney.

Reading through this thread underscores the main problem within the Republican party right now IMO: we are eating our own. I tried to make an honest statement as to how I think the American public (who is not as well informed as we are here) views SP and I get attacked. Others here have suffered the same fate.
Just because we want it to be true does not make it true. I think she is extremely vulnerable on a lot of fronts- virtually no experience, media portrays her as dumb (surveys show that a significant number of Americans think she said “I can see Russia from my backyard” instead of Tina Fey), seems like a light weight on TV.
I do not think this is the real Sarah Palin. I like her- a lot. I think she would be a great POTUS. I just don't think she can overcome the onslaught of negative media coverage. I personally think she needs another position first a la Hillary (VP, cabinet secretary, etc).
Face it, folks, we are going to have to band together and vote for the Republican candidate no matter who it is. I held my nose and voted for McCain and may have to hold my nose again. We CANNOT have a 3rd party “purist” candidate just because we are not completely happy with the Republican candidate. The Dems do it- they band together no matter how much they dislike or disagree with the candidate and they win.
