Browns decision to sell, among other state properties, the 24-acre multiple-home estate Ms. Streisand donated to the State of California and the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy in November, 1993:
While I had hoped that the Ramirez Canyon property I donated to the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy would have been used for a state-of-the-art Environmental Conference and Study Center as was originally intended, I understand Governor Browns tough decision given the severe budget shortfalls that California is facing. I only hope that there is little disruption to the residents of Ramirez Canyon through this potential transition and that whatever entity does purchase the land and the homes on it will preserve its special habitat.

It would be nice to know the price that California gets for the estate and then compare it to the amount that Babs claimed as a tax write-off.

I know a little bit about this property. Streisand always wanted to SELL the property but could not get the price she wanted. She then donated it to the state - I guess to get a good tax break or something.
For a while it was a tourist attraction (3 homes built in different styles) and I tried to see it but the opening and closing times were always incompatible so I quit trying. I then heard it was going to seed.
That’s her new estate. She published a book about it called “My Passion for Design.” While I enjoyed it, others might think: what God would do if he had the money.
It actually depends on the way the gift was given to the state, they legally might not be able to sell it. If sold to an unauthorized use it could go back to her. Of course she didn’t want it any more than the state did since it’s a white elephant and very expensive to maintain and there are some other problems with high volume usage caused by the neighborhood.
Good move Gerry Brown. It looks like her legacy will slide off into the ocean with the next earth quake.
Hearst was first to pull this scam, deeming their digs in San Simeon a State Park to get the State to pick up the maintenance bill and take it off the tax rolls. They've since tossed in the ranch on the same pretext.
Why is it that all of the hollyweird commies have all of the money? Why is that?

I looked up the word “skank” and there was the picture that you posted.

LOL. Just when I hoped she had *faded* away, now this. Oi!
Not a fan of the concept of “state” parks, but Hearst Castle at San Simeon is undoubtedly making money for the state. It is a huge draw, multiple large tours daily. I thought the tour was fantastic, very interesting historically and architecturally. By “history” I don’t just mean California history, but Hearst collected many artifacts as well as art work, and it really a highly recommended tour. I’d love to go do the other three tours some day.
Not good to lie talent yes, hypocritical etc yes
strive to be honest as much as possible!
That’s why everybody in the south bought beach-front condos in SC and FLA. They were damn near free until Reagan nixed that break. :^)
Would be nice to use as a GOP conference center. Watch Algore buy it.
You may think she's talented but that's between you and your mirror.
Barbra Streisand: Who is the boy I saw on the news report tonight? [Stan and Kenny point at Kyle] Hello there, little boy. Do you know who I am?
Kyle: No.
Barbra Streisand: Ugh. I bet you do.
I’m going-
Kyle: Aagh! Stop that!
Barbra Streisand: -where there’s lucky clovers in the f-
Stan: Ow, that sucks, dude!
Barbra Streisand: I’m Barbra Streisand!
Stan:
so?
Barbra Streisand: So?! Uh muh, so I’m a very famous and vey important individual.
Stan: Like John Elway important?
Barbra Streisand: What?!
Stan: D’you know John Elway?
Barbra Streisand: No!
Stan: Oh, so you’re really famous and important but you don’t know John Elway!
No enforcable performance clauses in the transfer contract?
No covenants in the deed?!?
No "Right Of Return", with a California withdrawl to 1967 1993 borders?
The fact that she’s rich is an affront to people who work for a living anyway. Thanks BenLurkin.
