British Prime Minister David Cameron has removed his name from a list of patrons of the UK branch of the Jewish National Fund - and pro-Palestinian activists have taken credit for the move.
Cameron's decision to drop his link with the charity was explained by his office as simply having to do with "time constraints." In an e-mail, Downing Street reiterated the explanation without going into details. "The Prime Minister stepped down from a number of charities - including the JNF," the office wrote.
Downing Street declined to comment on the fact that the Stop the JNF Campaign has actively lobbied for Cameron to withdraw as a patron of the charity. The prime minister became an honorary patron of the JNF five years ago, after he became the leader of the Conservative Party.

Calm down.
As the article, Cameron has been nothing more than an HONORARY patron of this group, as he is with others, and the man has a conflict in Libya and a lot of domestic problems to sort out.
Cameron and the UK is committed to supporting Israel, just as you are. And Cameron has publicly said so. To see this as an example of ‘Briddish anti-semitism’ is bunkum.
This anti-Israeli group is simply trying to gain publicity and claim credit for something it hasnt done.
Except its not true.
Complete crap, and I AM a Scotsman!.
Just because a few Scottish pro-Palestinian activists want something to happen, dosent mean it will....
They wanted Prestwick and Glasgow and Edinburgh airports shut down to stop Britain and American supplying Israel when the latter went into Lebanon to go after Hamas a couple of years ago, but that didnt happen. Scotland became a focal point for supplies eastward.
‘saved asses’....
yawn.

Ive lurked at this site for many years now and it has become increasingly apparent that many of you have a very skewed perception of Britain - my home.
While I admit that my country has many serious problems, there is an increasing tendency for american commentators to point at Britain and use us an example of all thats wrong in western civilization - this article is one such example, and is riddled with inaccuracies.
Take unemployment for example: this article says that rates of 15% are considered the norm in the UK. The current rate of UK unemployment is 7.8% (check it if you like), and has not been over 15% in nearly 30 years.
Likewise with immigration. While I agree that it has increased a great amount in the last 20 years, this has almost entirely been contained within London - incidentally the one part of the country american commentators seem to notice, and that american tourists visit. The current ethnic breakdown of the UK at large is 92% white (again, check it if you like).
Another current theme is that muslims are taking over. They currently comprise a massive 3%! of our population, and in the event of an ethnic war, they would thus be in serious trouble... Every single photo I have seen posted on this site of muslim protesters in Britain (Islam will dominate the world etc.) come from one small mosque in east london run by a man named Anjem Choudary. He has a following of roughly 100 fanatics, all of whom are well known to the police.
Point number 3 - all guns are banned! Except that theyre not. Handguns and assault rifles are banned. I own 2 bolt action rifles and a shotgun, all of which are currently in a gun cabinet 20 feet from where Im sitting.
I do not claim to know or judge america from what I read in your newspapers or what bloggers write online, please grant us brits the same courtesy. Thanks.

Thanks to White Guilt Liberals, parasites, fools, traitors, particularily the main stream media,Christian haters, and idiots, the United States is following close in their footsteps.
In my opinion, the turning point in the United States ocurred when a large segment of the population, egged on and encouraged by the media decided that they would prefer being kept "secure" and taken care of by the Government that live free and be able to make decisions that suited themselves. To explain: They prefer being slaves to the Governmental Masters than living free.
After the Lockerbie bomber deal, not really.
A—A move most Scottish people didnt support.
B—Now you feel how we felt when YOUR courts and politicians used to release/cosy up to IRA terrorists in the 1980’s and 1990’s.
So what have they done about it?
BNow you feel how we felt when YOUR courts and politicians used to release/cosy up to IRA terrorists in the 1980s and 1990s.
And your point is...?
Scotsman,
I don’t wish to get in an argument about life in Britain, it’s culture, or it’s job market as it isn’t “my fight”. However, most everything I have ever read about the socialized economies of Europe, including that of the UK suggest that the unemployment rate is higher than 7.8%. If you wish to say that, go ahead. If you want to believe it or state it as your reality, be my guest.
However, based on your suggestion, I am checking it. A simple google of articles about unemployment in Britain gave me this:
‘Unemployment rate is six times higher than official figures’ (2007)
Like most governments where the workforce is subjugated by wage and price controls and socialization of medicine, the ‘official’ unemployment statistics are simply lies to coverup the abject failure of the welfare state. It is happening here for the same reason as it is there.
So forgive me if I do not accept your rational of the wonderful rate of employment in the UK.
Good luck with that.
Well, the point b is to get your high horse about terrorism.
Americans were rightly angry at Scotland for the Megrahi decision, however my point was that America made morally repugnant decisions re the IRA in years gone by, and perhaps after Megrahi you will understand how disgusted we were for many years as American politicians, both Republican and Democrat, cosied up to an Irish-American lobby that actively supported the IRA, and East Coast courts that swallowed the IRA’s bunkum in court and treated terrorist murderers of innocent men women and children like naughty little schoolboys.
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.

Almost as if it meant something having it there in the first place....NOT.

I am sorry, but britain has NEVER supported Israel. Never. Nor did they support the Jews during WWII. They used them and their ingenuity against the nazis, but when the war over, they betrayed them.
One word, kennedy. Maybe 2, King. But what has any of that got to do with Israel?
And the Lockerbie outrage didn’t kill just Americans. britain’s hands are dirty. Always were and always will be. Ally or not, get in the way of britain’s quest for oil and you’re a defacto enemy that they have no qualms about screwing “royally.” Just ask iran. Oh wait.....
The Balfour Declaration was American was it?.
The British after WW2 in Palestine (never a British colony until after ww1) were the piggy in the middle between Jewish terrorists and extremists like the Stern and Irgun gangs and the Arabs.
As you know your history, you will remember what Jews in Palestine were doing to the British from 1944 to 1948. Or do I have to remind/tell you?...
Yeah, and America dosent screw anyone who gets in its way?.
I think that knife you used over Suez is still lodged someone where in our spine. Then again, it makes more damage when launched from behind someone’s back.
Never said it didn’t. We are in the process of screwing almost every ally we ever had, and before that, a biggie, Yugoslavia. And before that, daddy bush screwed over the Kurds and Hungarians leaving totalitarian gov’ts in place. At britain’s request and with its collusion, we installed the shah of iran after britain’s oil contracts were threatened. I was talking about britain, but I can certainly cite examples of other countries as well. france, for instance. NONE of it changes the facts for britain, does it? britain has been at it longer and has gotten help from us in some of its more noteworthy modern evils against humanity.
Our sins do not absolve britain from theirs.
The brits CREATED “palestine.” And did everything in their power to prevent Jews from returning to their own homeland. Do not even dare to claim victimhood for britain. What they did, inciting the arabs against the Jews to maintain their control over mideast oil, was unconscionable. They held Jewish refugees in camps that were more like prisons.
Yes, I know my history. Do you know yours?
I also noticed, as many Freepers and Americans do, that you fail to mention that America refused in 1946 to take more European Jews, that Truman limited numbers. Then had the hypocrisy to criticise Britain. And I admire Truman.
Britain made errors with Palestine, I admit. But I am sick of people stating that Britain and the British were therefore and are antisemitic (we have been the least antisemitic major European nation). Many beloved cultural icons, from high street shops to comedians, have been open and proud British Jews.
And I am also sick of the strange mental block by pro-Israeli Americans when it comes to the Irgun and Stern gangs and the fact that hundreds of British soldiers and British/Jewish/Arab civilians were killed or injured, even tortured by those two terrorist groups. Soldiers from an army that liberated Jews from the Nazis, a nation that stood alone against the degenerate evil of Nazism.
Would America or anyone have done any better re Palestine?.
I doubt it.
