A veteran Bexar County sheriff's deputy was fatally shot during an apparent ambush while waiting at a traffic light in his marked patrol vehicle early Saturday, according to the San Antonio Express.

Forty-five-year-old Sgt. Kenneth Vann was waiting at an intersection just after 2 a.m. Saturday when a small white vehicle pulled up next to him on the right side and started shooting through the front passenger window. Witnesses called police, who discovered Vann dead in the driver's seat.

I read an article not long ago about the cartels threatening to kill police officers. I don’t remember if it was in Texas or Arizona. It can’t have anything to do with drugs or cartels since Big Sis says the border is safer then ever.

Duh, the number of people killed at work, supporting their families , are a 100 times greater than the number of cops killed. One is no more important than the other.

Well anything is possible but without even a tiny bit of evidence pointing in that direction it’s a big jump, especially when one incident is in AZ and this one being in TX.

I’m not assuming anything on this one. Yes, it’s a very outside chance 100-1 or more that it was drug cartel. It’s more likely to be gang related but the gangs in SA don’t operate like this. But I’m wonder who this guy made mad personally first. The next few days will tell. If there’s no info in a week or more it’s more likely to be drug cartel related. But they never do this stuff this far north much less on this side of the river.

“Duh”???

Are you an adult or a child?

Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California are border states. All of them big states and a lot of open land. Do the research, get a larger world view and do the math.

San Antonio is a harbor city and there is a lot more there than illegal aliens. You want to take advantage of the Arizona Swat murder go right ahead. But, remember one thing, the Sheriff and Pima county is controlled by a bunch of leftists. Sheriff “Dups__t’s daughter was busted on drug charges.

As for me, I haven’t got the nerve to face what these Cops, Deputies, and Border Patrol face every day. So, sit behind the comfort of your computer and face your hazards...just don’t trip over your desk as you leave for your next beverage.

President Polk said it best: “They have crossed into American territory and shed American blood upon American soil.” Polk did something about it. The guy in the White House now refuses to protect us.

Mostly covered up by their respective organizations and we never hear about it.

Is this something you believe? Or is it something you know

Statements of opinion framed as fact are sophomoric.

What happens more often:
1.) A cop is killed in the line of duty.
2.) An innocent citizen is killed by a dirty cop.

My money is on #2.

That’s not random. There’s a purpose in that. Stupid and crazy isn’t that tactically sound. This is the same way that cops would get gunned down in Mexico

This was my thought as well. I sure hope we haven't reached critical mass in the US with this becoming the norm as it is south of the border.

>> Are you comfortable with grouping any member of a profession into one class?

An excellent point.

US Marine, Guerena:

It’s important for folks to realize that a lawful process exists that allows for summary execution of citizens; it’s an egregious process supported by lawmakers, judges, and commanding officers. There are risk assessments that fully recognize the chances for death such as that suffered by Guerena. Those that ignore those assessment are in contempt of the Constitution, and should be held accountable. An adrenaline driven SWAT team loaded to the gills with serious weaponry is going to make mistakes. The “men” in charge are fully aware of these risks, but for whatever reason seem not to care, even when innocent children are involved.

There should be absolutely no association between the Texas Deputy and the killing of US Marine. To do so is to be dangerously, intellectually lazy.

“you forgot a fourth reason.”

A fifth and very large reason;PC conditions the person to act and think in the context of a herd rather than as an individual.

Yes this is Mexican gang tactics. This is how they started “sending” the message there. Look at the deaths now in Mexico. It is and has been spilling across our wide open border for so many years this is inevitable.
