Thanks for posting this video. It's been awhile since I had heard those stirring words from Point Du Hoc. (I actually went to the video from the Reagan Library to see live footage.)
It is good to have had a President who understood what this country was all about. Unfortunately the latest occupier of the White House has no clue about this great country. A damned shame.
Have a blessed and thoughtful Memorial Day.

Arrowhead...to you and all the other veterans I want to thank YOU for your service.
Most of us on AD right now end up getting all the thanks from folks but the fact of the matter is...is that if you hadn’t served when you did I wouldn’t be able to do it now.
So to all of the vet’s and retirees...THANK YOU for your service!
Hooah!

Good Lord’s Day to you, freekitty.
Good choice for a fund raiser and hopefully it will raise awareness of why those flags are there.

I have today OFF! Woo Hoo! I rearranged the furniture in the living room, and did some tree trimming.
I am watching a program about WW2 Veterans doing the “Honor Tour” to the Memorial in Washington.
The visuals are great, the interviews, narration, etc.
BUT the music is TOTALLY inappropriate! It sounds like the Dixie Chicks, or maybe Emmy Lou Harris, and some sappy pseudo-folk fiddle music. Our Beloved WW2 Vets deserve better background music. Like Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, even the sad ballads of Vera Lynn, and of Course, the Andrews Sisters. Many of the artists I have mentioned actually performed on the Front Lines for our Troops. My Uncle played Piano for The Andrews Sisters on a ship in the Pacific, and Glenn Miller was actually shot down over the English Channel while on his way to entertain the Troops.
It probably cost them a big pile of money for the composition and licensing of the music they used, and it wasn’t even right. I would have loved to have heard “Bless Them All”, or “Praise The Lord and Pass The Ammunition”, but I guess that is asking too much from PBS!
Grrrrr.
