Rumors continued to circulate Friday about the prospect of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin visiting Gettysburg National Military Park this weekend.
The website POLITICO reported Palin will stop at the battlefield as part of a Memorial Day-weekend bus tour to sites of historical and national significance.
Walt Tuchalski, communications coordinator for the Adams County Republican Committee, said he's heard speculation of a Sunday visit.
"The rumor from reliable sources on the street is that Sarah Palin's campaign has made some inquiries into what's going on in Gettysburg this Sunday," he said.

Still, Tuchalski said he's hopeful for a visit.
"That would be huge, she has such a huge following here," he said. "It would really energize Adams County."
POLITICO reported Thursday that Palin will be stopping at Civil War battlefields at Gettysburg and Antietam, and the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia. Other sites were reporting Thursday night that specific stops had yet to be determined.

And although Palin has said that filing deadlines, family considerations and the other aspiring officeholders in the field would shape her ultimate decision, the blue bus emblazoned with the motto "One Nation" left little question that the upcoming tour is but a precursor to a full campaign.
Palin also has a formidable and fervent social media following; more than 3 million people follow her on the social networking site Facebook. Her Facebook page erupted at the news of her bus tour. "Let's all meet at the Last Bus Stop -- 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., Jan 2013," wrote one Facebook follower.

Last Stop — 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., Jan 2013
I live 40 minutes away, so if she’s coming to visit I would love to stop by. If she does, great move, since there is a movie coming out about the battle that “saved a nation” and this would only serve to emphasize it’s importance.
One of the most memorable places I have been to.
Interesting relationship with Vicksburg, too.
I love the “She has a huge following here.”, bit. Roll on, Sarah! You’ve already started your campaign and the MSM hasn’t even caught it. Doing things ‘the Palin Way’.
We visited Gettysburg a few summers ago. It was a very moving experience.

The service is scheduled for Sunday, May 29 · 10:00am - 11:00am at:
USCC Civil War Chapel
297 Steinwehr Avenue
Gettysburg, Pennsylvania
The self guided, cassette tape (probably CD by now), auto tour is well worth the money and a good way to tour the park. (not expensive) and you get to keep the tape. You can proceed at your own pace, start & stop as you like.
A low cost, mini vacation. I highly recommend it, especially if you have kids studying American History. It brings it ALIVE. There are also reenactments in the area and other battle sights to visit.
I have no personal connection or financial interest to Gettysburg, I live in NY.
Campaign??? This is a campaign?

STFU and get off this otherwise positive thread.
WHERE do FReepers think that she should make this announcement?
- in front of Mount Rushmore - so that we can associate her with the rest of America's best leaders?- onboard the USS Ronald Reagan, or at the Reagan Library -- to stress her connection with the Gipper?
- in Washington, D.C. - as a counter to the July 4th Million Muslim March?
- or????
Does he mean a political campaign?
Go Sarah!
done
Perhaps ground Zero??
