Not justifying the pharmacists actions, but these thugs tend to get revenge when you maim one of them. Under duress, you may not have any idea what you may do. Really a case where the security cam back fired on it’s intent.

“The “guy” emptied a second gun into the assailant while he was bleeding unconscious on the floor. How is that not murder? He already disabled him, at that point you call the police, you don’t take justice into your own hands, you already defended yourself, killing a defenseless criminal is disgusting and murder IMHO.”

He killed a potential Murderer,This is the problem here,A armed robber needs to be killed, there is NO rehabilitation for this scum.

Also I wonder what kind of pistol he was using. If it had been something like a 22, you are damn right I would add a few rounds for spare.

He couldn’t have killed him, he was unconscious. At that point, the victim’s life is no longer in danger. The assailant might have died from his wounds anyways and Jerome would be off the hook. It was his choice to disable the man, and instead of calling police getting another loaded gun and firing five more shots into the unconscious man on the floor.

So you’re saying people should be tried and convicted by what they are capable of doing, before committing a crime? Preposterous.

“but only the trigger man is the murderer. IMHO.”

I agree.

Here is the surveillance video.

Scorecard:

14 yr old with the gun - imprisoned until he turns adult. The maximum he could get as a juvenile.

16 yr old without any weapon - dead.

The two adults who sent the kids into the pharmacy to pull the robbery while they waited in the car - both convicted of felony murder, given life sentences.

That may be true, but it’s likely that instead of executing him. Jerome could have called the police, and the suspects would have been rounded up and put in prison for a long time. The assailant may have died from his wounds anyways, still causing the masterminds to be sentenced to life in prison. I suspect the verdict would have been innocent if Jerome had not executed the man on the floor and he died from the wounds inflicted by Jerome defending himself.

"I suspect the verdict would have been innocent if Jerome had not executed the man on the floor and he died from the wounds inflicted by Jerome defending himself."

Had he merely defended himself, there would have been no verdict as this never would have been prosecuted. Even the prosecutor openly acknowledged that the first round to the head was a non-issue.

Exactly, Jerome did in fact commit murder, he hasn’t been sentenced yet, I don’t think he’ll get life.

I full agree with you, and the 5 extra shots was totally uncalled for.

I'd be willing to bet that the guy had a "Benjamin Martin Moment" though.

There is a scene in the move "The Patriot" where Mel Gibson's part literally blungeons a British soldier with his hatchet in rage.

Again, very few of us have been placed in this position, but it may surprise us how we may react.

What the pharmacist grabbed first looks like a 'Judge' possibly loaded with .410 shot, so it is hard to say how much damage the head got with the shot. Could have been nothing penetrating the skull. The impact might have knocked the punk out while the pharmacist walked past him TWICE exposing his back to the downed perp TWICE, the first time running to get a shot at the fleeing perp, the second time in a walk back to get the second gun. I keep trying to get folks to see that for what it means, but, alas ...

You have the benefit of emotional distance and the clarity of hindsight. The pharmacist did not. Under life-and-death stress it is ~exceedingly~ difficult, really impossible, to think clearly and objectively. You do what instinctively feels right, and you only have precious fractions of seconds to choose. It may not, however, look rational to somebody looking in from the outside. It’s completely unfair to make “perfection” a standard that everyone must live up to in those situations.

Not a man but a Murderer was shot,I have no pity for these subhuman crawlers.

How often do you hear of people defending themselves and instead of getting help, executing their assailant then getting help?
