For a non-candidate, Rick Perry is doing awfully well.
Late yesterday, the Texas governor — who has repeatedly insisted that he is not running for president — received an endorsement from the Hispanic Republican Conference of Texas.
A presidential endorsement.
“Although the governor has not officially entered the race for president we hope our endorsement will encourage him to do so,” said state Rep. Aaron Peña, R-Edinburg, the Conference’s chairman. “Rick Perry has been good for Texas and the members of the Conference join many across the state and the country who think he would be great for the nation.”
In fact, Perry the non-candidate seems to be doing better in the endorsement game than putative GOP frontrunner Mitt Romney, the widely heralded but largely unknown Tim Pawlenty or other would-be White House occupants.
He has Rush Limbaugh’s seal of approval and Laura Ingraham is so enthusiastic that she declared this week that he is running. (Does she know something that we don’t know?)
The latest endorsement of Perry came Thursday when the Hispanic Republican Conference of Texas (a 33-member group of Texas legislators whose districts include sizable Hispanic populations) held one of its final meetings of the legislative session.
In a press release, the HRC said it issued the unsolicited endorsement “to encourage the governor to launch a bid for our nation’s highest office.” The group boasted — correctly — that it “has become the first political organization in the nation to endorse his potential candidacy.”

Rick Perry is a NATURAL BORN CITIZEN unlike Barry Soetoro aka Barack Hussein Obama.
From what I read here and there he would not be a bad nominee for the GOP.
However, does he have the sort of personality/speaking skills that would capture the attention of voters - like a Trump or Palin - or is he more of a blah candidate like those already announced.
Second, does being the Governor of Texas give the media another avenue to attack him? I There were many things I liked about GWBush, but I can see the media portraying a Perry Presidency as a third term of GWB. Not true, but to the lazy sheeple who believe only what they hear on TV, it could be very damaging.

Is “The Hispanic Republican Conference of Texas” a real conservative group or is it another RINO balkanization outfit?

That is interesting reading about the Bushes vs. Perry. Guess Perry didn’t belong to the right Country Club.
I used to wonder how the GOP went from a leader like Reagan to what we have now, I am starting to be able to put the pieces of that puzzle together. Piece 1 was GHWB as VP in 1980.

Sounds like an other Bush. He is now finished in my book.
That narrows it down to Cain, Palin, Bachmann, as far as I can see.
Of course it does but Texas seems to be doing remarkably well in this economy and that example would speak louder than comparisons to W.
I'd be concerned about cronyism. W seemed too focused on bringing Texas with him. I'd like to see someone more willing to look beyond their home state for talent. Obama's probably a worse offender.
Perry needs to be very careful.
If he thinks he can build a candidacy chasing after, concentrating and focusing on a boost from “Hiapanics”, he will only wind up generating a more largely divided party through the primary process, where that type of effort will not win enough primaries to give him the candidacy and will suggest to his “Hispanic” supporters that they go support the Dim candidate in the general election.
Listen up Perry!!! Your “winning scenario” could be a lose lose proposition for you and for the party.
Perry does not give a dead rats azz if the illegals can’t vote.
he just wants them bussing his dishes and cutting his grass.
And when they go to the emergency room he wants me to pay for it! And then I get to pay to educate all their anchor babies.
Perry is a master of the RINO kabuki dance that is immigration politics.

In my book, the most important reason to get rid of Obama and the Rats is to close the borders and deport illegals. Without that, we will lose our country, if it isn’t already gone. His illegal immigration position better be real clear..otherwise I will not vote for him..period.
Actually, I believe it is George P. Bush (the nephew) who is moving the ball on the Hispanic GOP group.
For the moment, my heart (and perhaps vote) belongs to Sarah Palin but Perry is in the mix. Let's take a good look at them all.
