RIYADH Saudi Arabia on Friday beheaded a Sudanese man convicted of murdering a compatriot in the capital Riyadh, the interior ministry announced.

Well, it’s certainly a great way to lose ten ugly pounds. But you don’t survive to enjoy the weight loss.
Pity.
This seemed to happen every week or at least every month when I was there. I never had a desire to go down to chop chop square for the festivities.
14th century laws are great aren’t they? They will never change unless forced to.
And the problem is?
This is the Agence France-Press we're talking about here. There hasn't been capital punishment in France in over 3 decades, so the former guillotine culture is a bit squeamish when anyone is executed for any reason these days. ....especially by beheading.
And the libs thought that the Patriot Act was tough. The Compatriot Act is a lot tougher.
“14th century laws are great arent they? They will never change unless forced to.”
****
Why should they change capital punishment?
If anything, America needs to be executing more of these types of criminals, rather than liberally trying to “rehab” them or billing the taxpayer to give them 3 meals/day and a roof over their heads for “Life imprisonment”, which is usually liberal-code-words for “10 years and out for good behavior”.
Ol Sparky is the best way to prevent convicted murderers from murdering again.
That’s gonna leave a mark.
I’ve got to particular objections to chopping off a person’s head for the crime of murder. I might, however, object to the legal procedures whereby an individual in Saudi society gets arrested, charged and convicted for murder.
That’s the way, uh-huh, uh-huh, I liiike it, uh-huh, uh-huh,

I LOVED Ol' Sparky. What can be more fitting than sparks flying out of a murderer's head?
Instead of decommisioning it, they should have tweaked it to make the condemned person's head explode completely - like in "Scanners - then sold the event on pay-per-view.
So the man beheaded was Sudanese, I would imagine he was an African.
Africans have a far lower standing in society in Saudi Arabia that the Arabs there.
This is similar to how in the deep south 100 years ago they would hang a black criminal minutes after sentence was was read but would give a reduced or non-existent sentence to the white criminal.
Of course the PC crowd in Washington doesn’t want to admit that their Muslim friends in SA could ever be racist.......
No problem really, but the Kingdom can be highly inconsistent in handing out this kind of punishment. My Saudi friend told me a story of a guy who raped and killed a 7 year old girl, but received just 4 years in prison. It may have to do with who you know.
Several European countries practiced beheading for certain crimes as late as 1977.
The French invented the guillotine...much more humane than beheading manually with a not so sharp knife. I had the displeasure of watching a video of Taliban beheading a captured man with his hands tied behind his back and it was the most inhumane procedure/torture I have ever seen or heard.
Depending on the brutality committed by a murderer, I have zero problem with capital punishment in such cases. I hope the Saudi’s used something akin to a guillotine. If they used the Taliban method, I would be against it.
No, no guillotine there. A sword is used. Supposedly the person(s) who wield these swords know their business, and the type of debacle shown on Taliban videos is avoided, but in reality, who knows?
the infowarrior
Should be more of that going around...and not just for murder. The French in the 1790's sure had the right idea!!!
Agreed, except hanging in public in the place of “Ol Sparky.”

Hmmm...that’d help re-introduce the concept of shame also...something completely missing from liberal “it’s not my fault” ideology.
I LIKE IT.
