The Pima County Sheriff's Department released a video Thursday that shows a SWAT team shooting into a suspect's house. He died after being shot 60 times.
Jose Guerena, 26, was shot and killed May 5 when Pima County authorities served a search warrant on his home.
The Sheriff's department says five SWAT team members fired more than 70 rounds in less than 10 seconds after the former Marine pointed an assault rifle at officers. His wife contends the family thought the officers were robbers. He was shot 60 times

I have never done a drug in y entire life and am disgusted by the WOD.
Its a recipe for big govt, big taxes, too many govt workers and unions, abusing the const. etc.
By the states, yes. In my own state I support criminalizing some instances of it's use, like we do alcohol, but I don't think simple posession should be more than a misdemeanor crime.
Are you finished trying to make this about me, and getting away from you providing that list yet?
Never having had a reason to post such a statement before, I’ll make / add mine now: Drug addiction / non-medical dependency is a blight on society and a tool of the Devil. And in general I am opposed to the legalization of presently illegal mind-altering drugs.
That in no way justifies what happened in this instance.
I want to ask any LEO here a question. I have friends who are cops and I will have to ask them about this later too.
My question is - am I wrong to think that in general law enforcement techniques are being taught that are counter to the old style ‘peace officer’ approach. Probably being taught in the guise of ensuring your safety, and probably with (what I consider to be a lie) that you are making the public safer too. Is this true?
When I was younger cops were pretty easy going unless you were a real bad guy, and now they will even wrestle grandma to the floor, break her back, and make her “comply.” This is a VAST change in this country.
I think this madness comes from the top. Unfortunately most who support you are starting to re-think that support based on these ‘over the top’ paramilitary tactics. And if you don’t like them you should tell the PBA to stop making you have to follow sick compliance rules.
Opinions guys (and girls), did you think what I wrote is accurate about the change in teaching technique?
The wife’s statement should be required reading for anyone who wants to comment further (unless you’ve already read it.) But I don’t recommend it if you want your chest cavity to be feeling “ok” for the rest of the day.

I’m not an LEO, but it appears the wife was handled pretty roughly at the scene. That may have simply been the “action” in getting an understandably hysterical (if in fact she was) wife out of the house, but nothing in any of the reports seems to indicate resistance on her part.
So he was convicted of a crime?

A lot of things just don’t add up. It could be a “fog of war” sort of thing, but even allowing that, the training, tactics, and pre-raid “intelligence”... I can’t really find the words. “Recipe for disaster” comes to mind.
Are you for criminalization of marijuana, coke, heroin ...?
I think you interjected your profile into the issue, not me.
Does anyone have a link to the unedited version of the video? I can’t seem to find it now. In the unedited version, there’s a part where one of the SWAT team members clearly says “bang, bang, bang” before they go in, and, what’s on KOLD now also does not let one determine how long the car alarm (er, siren) sounds.
Never mind - I found it back on the 1st page of this thread...

No. Like I said - you can’t have limited govt and low taxes when you have a war on drugs are run by the fed govt, state govt, etc.
Funny - many of the drug warriors scream about the failure of the war on poverty yet never examine the results of the gross failure that is the WOD.
Just your “No” was sufficient. Everything else is your attempt to justify your no.
Booze was illegal too at one time.
There is one version toward the end where you can hear them announcing themselves loudly.
Post a link.
The video shows there was a siren.
9 seconds of siren...a siren that sounded more like a car alarm. It was 35 seconds from the start of the siren until this kid was dead.
Enough with the pro-drug crap.
FWIW, I think the Marine was probably involved in crime. But if it happened at my house, Id be just as dead,...
I'm interested to know why you think he was involved in crime.
No, I did not intend to make a joke, but I must be pretty naive. And I apologize for any misunderstanding about my support for the right to keep and bear weapons of that lethality, either at home or in public.
Personally, my arsenal is limited to the extent of my expertise. Namely, a .38 Colt PS. But then, I have only myself to protect, and where I live gives me little reason to fear a break-in, with or without 'stinking badges'. I am thankful for that.
