No, I did not intend to make a joke, but I must be pretty naive. And I apologize for any misunderstanding about my support for the right to keep and bear weapons of that lethality, either at home or in public.

Personally, my arsenal is limited to the extent of my expertise. Namely, a .38 Colt PS. But then, I have only myself to protect, and where I live gives me little reason to fear a break-in, with or without 'stinking badges'. I am thankful for that.

I understand. I also live in a place where a break-in or a SWAT raid are unlikely. I don’t have an AR-15 but I do own an SKS. I think you might be surprised at how many folks in rural areas own so-called “assault rifles.” For one thing the opportunities to take them out and shoot them are greater.
