My guess is that there are other FReepers here in the same boat(with family members and/or friends who are gay).

My guess is that there are also Freepers who have alcoholic family members, drug addict family members, kleptomaniac family members and family members who engage in all kinds of behavioral disorders. People who have family members like that and care about them do their best to encourage them back to a life of normalcy. Those who ignore that behavior or smile and wish them luck with their sickness are either cowards, or don't give a damn about them.

Thank you. I just read the riot act to an idiot relative of mine who is engaged in adultery. Instead of acting like all the other relatives who are “minding their own business” and keeping out of it” I told him he needed to lay his life down for his wife, to love his wife like Christ loved the church and that he made that decision 15 years ago when he got married. There is no need to turn a blind eye to sin in order to maintain a “relationship”. Truth is way more helpful. Your beloved niece is on the road to perdition. Period. You should encourage her to break the tie and try to come back to the right side.
