Someone tell me how buying pollution credits will stop pollution. It only puts money in some crooks pocket.

I buy a pollution credit from someone who doesn’t pollute soI can go right on doing it.

Stupid. It’s a scam.

If you want to stop pollution take the money you would pay into this scam and clean up the plant doing the polluting.

THAT stops pollution or at least it slows it down. The trading scanm is just outright theft. Theft from the consumer who is doing the paying. It’s just another stupid tax.

No, the main problem with a "cap & trade" system isn't the "trade" part so much as the "cap" part. The "trade" part slighly lessens the economic impact of the regulation on the industry as a whole. However, it does benefit larger companies at the expense of small companies.

More to the point, though, is that in this case THERE IS NO POLLUTION to be "capped" OR "traded".
