"I figure my 57 BelAir is good for another 50 years. It is easier to get parts for it than some new cars, and cheaper. In a pinch, some baling wire will do."

Good work, Guru! I'll be building the next engine with more stroke and a few other things for a Jeep Cherokee (4.0 L Renix), after we get more pressing projects done. It should still get about 22 miles to the gallon on the highway for the rare supply runs over high passes, etc. ...already replaced most other needed things and about to replace the rest of the wiring.

We'll store extra electronic parts with ICs and other small components in a trash can with ground, extra shields (cheap, thin metal, screens,...) and layers of insulation with copper wool around the lid seal. ...same for ham radio equipment, after we choose that.

We've found all kinds of little tech. tricks, e.g., how to neatly cut laminated glass windshields with cheap tools (for chopped tops, installing in alternative vehicles, etc.).

I've been trying synthetic oil in an overhead valve, gas powered generator for an off-grid well pump, and it works fine so far for several hundred hours. We'll find out whether or not it will go well over the estimated 3,000 hours MTBF.

My ‘64 Fury with a Push-Button Trans and a 318 will be my “Red Barchetta” until the coming storm.
