WRGB-TV ^ | 5/26/11

The National Traffic Highway Safety Association expects to have a decision by the end of the year on whether all new vehicles will be required to have 'event data recorders' installed.

Known as 'black-boxes' the recorders collect vehicle data in the moments leading up to during, and after a crash. Unlike aircraft 'black-boxes' the vehicle data recorders do not make audio recordings.

“Low-techs will rule.”

I assume you are not referring to Johnny Mnemonic (the novel, not movie), yes, cars from Honduras, Mexico, Canada and Belize will be in our used markets due to demand. We’ll all be driving old clunkers (hey, how many non-boxed cars were removed from the market in Carz-fur-clunkerz?).

They'll decide? Wonder what the punishment will be for disabling or removing them?

Within three days of them coming out, some 14 yr. old kid will figure out a "hack" for them which will render them useless without anyone being the wiser.

“A thing that can be done, can be undone.”

You can make this be central to the car OS, like Internet Explorer was central to Windows 98. Disable it, and no sperk to the plugs.

A whole new OS will be needed, there is now a market for new ASICS to run cars!

Soon, a guy wont be able to take a wizz in the woods without the event being recorded.

and he will be arrested.

and it will be upped to felony wizzing.

and he will be audited by IRS.

and he will lose wife, house, kids and spend twenty behind bars.

Find the man and we will find the crime.

” like they did with the catalytic converters back in the 1980’s. “

I was working in an auto parts store in Cleveland when the Catalytic Converters first became mandatory — and from day-one there were ‘Emergency Repair Kits’, consisting of a hollow look-alike CC replacement (good enough to pass a cursory visual inspection) on the market...

We sold a bunch of ‘em........

In the early 80’s I had just graduated from college, and a good friend of mine made this comment about the new seatbelt law: “A government that can force us to wear seatbelts can put us in chains [slavery].” I thought he was being over-concerned. After all, seat belts are a good idea, right? He was definitely right: we are on the path to slavery.

‘Here we are,’ she said.

He was facing her at several paces’ distance. As yet he did not dare move
nearer to her.

‘I didn’t want to say anything in the lane,’ she went on, ‘in case there’s
a mike hidden there. I don’t suppose there is, but there could be. There’s
always the chance of one of those swine recognizing your voice. We’re all
right here.’

He still had not the courage to approach her. ‘We’re all right here?’
he repeated stupidly.

‘Yes. Look at the trees.’ They were small ashes, which at some time had
been cut down and had sprouted up again into a forest of poles, none of
them thicker than one’s wrist. ‘There’s nothing big enough to hide a mike
in. Besides, I’ve been here before.’

They were only making conversation. He had managed to move closer to her
now. She stood before him very upright, with a smile on her face that
looked faintly ironical, as though she were wondering why he was so slow
to act. The bluebells had cascaded on to the ground. They seemed to have
fallen of their own accord. He took her hand.

Obama does not run the decision making. He has outsourced this to his csars and he just flys around. He comes home and gets 2 or 3 scenarios from each marxist csar and runs with it.

I think the government should require that the black boxes be dipped in gold and encrusted in diamonds.

After all, burden and cost is no object when it comes to regulation.

No doubt they'll be assembled with ZirconEncrustedTweezers...

The boxes are already in most new cars.

Pretty soon they will include a tracking device and perhaps listening devices, similar to GM’s North Star.

With On Star they can listen in to your car any time they like.Tell you where you are and even tell you if the air is low in your tires in some models.
