OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A jury has convicted an Oklahoma City pharmacist once hailed as a hero after shooting a robbery suspect to death during a 2009 robbery.
Jerome Ersland was convicted of first-degree murder in the death of 16-year-old Antwun Parker after the boy and another teenager tried to rob his drug store in a crime-ridden part of south Oklahoma City.

A coroner's report said the later shots actually killed the teenager.

I remember this case. First degree murder!? The little punk was trying to rob and kill him!
I knew this was going to happen.
They would have convicted my butt for helping and for cracking a bat over the punks head.
WTH was the pharmacist thinking? Subject down and staying down, threat over. It was an execution.
He didn't help his case any by lying his head off to the cops on camera (claiming he was wounded in a firefight when the robbers never actually fired a shot; claiming to be a Gulf War veteran when he wasn't; etc., etc.).
Once you get caught lying, the jury isn't likely to believe anything else you say.

Oh, and the kid he killed was the one WITHOUT a gun.

I was fine with the video up until he pumps five more rounds into the unconscious man. The threat was over. If he simply would have called police after the head shot, I think he would have been fine. That being said, we are definitely becoming a war zone of bad guys vs upstanding citizens.
I think the guy did use overkill in this case. The kid was down and out. Not that I’m feeling sorry for the kid, you don’t do crime unless you are willing to do for it.
There was no way the kid was going to go anywhere.
He was probably adrenalized, but depending on the details, that might have been out of bounds.

Had this man only shot once, and the thug had died anyway, would that make that pharmacist a better man in your opinion?
