I was just making the comment that “it seems like” To me, "it seems like" every time there's a natural disaster, somebody wants to link it to Israel, or End Times, or some such, and support his link with Scripture.
I offer an alternative point of view ... also supported by Scripture.
The passage you offer actually supports the idea that God uses disasters (regardless of who the victims might be) as a sign to induce repentance when people (in general) aren't taking him seriously. I can't speak for anyone else, but that's all I'm saying. (And God does deal with nations.)
