GM food toxins found in the blood of 93% of unborn babies

GM firms claimed toxins were destroyed in the gut

Study: Mothers to be were tested Toxins implanted into GM food crops to kill pests are reaching the bloodstreams of women and unborn babies, alarming research has revealed.

A landmark study found 93 per cent of blood samples taken from pregnant women and 80 per cent from umbilical cords tested positive for traces of the chemicals. Millions of acres in North and South America are planted with GM corn containing the toxins, which is fed in vast quantities to farm livestock around the world – including Britain.

However, it is now clear the toxins designed to kill crop pests are reaching humans and babies in the womb – apparently through food.

It is not known what, if any, harm this causes but there is speculation it could lead to allergies, miscarriage, abnormalities or even cancer.

To date the industry has always argued that if these toxins were eaten by animals or humans they would be destroyed in the gut and pass out of the body, thus causing no harm. Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-1388888/GM-food-toxins-blood-93-unborn-babies.html#ixzz1NTfM2jJj

You apply your own self-serving, traditional terms to new lab procedures to which the rest of the world has chosen to apply a set of more descriptive and more accurate, new terms.

And you apply your own self serving terms to demonize one type of genetic modification because it's done in a lab, vs the genetic modification that has gone on for centuries that's not done in a lab. Genetic modification is modification - be it done in a lab, or the barnyard. You're the one pretending - pretending that which has gone on for centuries is not genetic modification.

Except that the cohort MOST likely to consume more expensive organic greens is pregnant women, particularly in a liberal greeny enclave like Montreal for the previously stated reasons.

What does “survival of the fittest” get them? Gore counted his Darwinism all the way to the bank. Don't get me wrong I don't mean their motivation is money. Money is just an effective way to get what they really want...which is power. Such as it's always been.

The study conducted and the article written are two different things. I have not seen the scientific report on the study so I can’t comment on the method and statistical model they used. The article itself was written exactly as a greenie or layman reporter would want you to believe.

And I am a molecular biologist.

The article title is the first sign of journalistic malfeasance. 93% of babies in the title but buried in the article it’s actually 93% of pregnant women blood samples and 80% of cord blood samples. Blood samples from actual babies are not mentioned.

And no mention that the Bt toxin has been in use as an organic pesticide for 50+ years.

I get a kick out of the Darwinists especially when they squeal about GM foods and DNA. If we’re all descended from the same primordial pool of glop then playing mix and match genes to improve performance is no problem as we are all genetically related anyway, not like it’s alien dna from outer space.

Accelerating natural selection. Let only the mutants that can stand high dosages of food-ingested pesticides live. Who cares how many are wiped out in the artificially-enhanced selection process... (Sarc.)

Yes, agree to a point. It is money and power aka control. One can’t help wondering though, who the real puppet masters are, the men behind the curtain, perhaps nothing and noone, and things are just as they appear to be...though one can still wonder. :)

“If Hitler told you that 2 plus 2 equalled 4, and Mother Theresa told you that 2 plus 2 equalled 5, who would you believe? Facts stand on their own, and should not be judged by based on the character of the person communicating them.”

That argument is fine if the “facts” being communicated can be independently verified by any average person, like your simple arithmetic problem. However, issues like this are more complicated, and that’s why the authority or veracity of the parties need to be questioned. The average person who reads this news story can’t test the GM corn in their home laboratory and see who is telling the truth, or even properly understand the raw data of the tests that were performed by others. All they really have to go on is their opinion about which side is likely to be more trustworthy.

The vast majority (99%+) of pesticides consumed by humans are naturally occurring in foods. Eating organic stuff is thus no better than not.
