Rep. Darrell Issa of California, chairman of the House Oversight Committee, has found another target in the Obama administration’s policy agenda: energy. Late Monday, Issa released a scathing report accusing the White House of being complicit in driving up oil prices to push a move to alternative energy sources.
Among other things, the report — “Rising Energy Costs: An Intentional Result of Government Action” — accused the administration of restricting access to domestic energy sources, hindering “fracking” technology and hampering the economic recovery by proposing new taxes on the energy industry.
The report also says the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) coordinated with environmental groups to target energy producers with environmental concerns.

O’Biden said revenue will have to go up. Why doesn’t he just call “revenue” taxes and get it over with? Biden’s usually so blanking straightforward albeit like the guy getting out of the clown car.
If he’s doing this on purpose, and I don’t doubt that he is, why? How will he get re elected if the economy doesn’t recover and things continue to slip downhill? Steal the election? Suddenly a few months before everything comes up roses? Gas prices drop to record lows, food prices drop, everything drops, jobs become plentiful? Or is he going to spin this all out of control(putting on tinfoil hat) and take advantage of the ensuing chaos to bring in Marshall law?

It is manipulation.
Obama also knows about market forces, so he can cause a ruckus in Libya that drives up prices, but he knows that supply will eventually rise because consumers will use less, so that will cause a drop in prices about 6 mos to a year out.
It is pure, unadulterated manipulation. You are right - that means BOTH UP and DOWN!
Conservatives should be hitting him for MANIPULATION up and down and not for rising only.

How can he win? They actually believe a couple of things:
1. (As you mention), they will exert influence to bring prices down around election time. (They believe Americans have short memories.)
2. They know they own the media and that they’ll have a full year to both attack their enemies AND sell their ideas on sitcoms, comedy shows, movies, news programs, newspapers, etc.
3. They believe in in operant conditioning. They bring prices up to 3.75 and back off. You are now conditioned to 3.75. The next iteration they bring it up to as high as 4.10. You don’t complain when it hits 3.75 because you’re already conditioned to that. It hits 4.10 and starts to slide and you back off. Your new set-point, though, is 4.10. The next drive up, though, will target 4.25. And so on, etc.

Sadly both agenda’s come into play and are viable....
