An illegal immigrant with 24 convictions who has been thrown out of the country five times was sentenced Monday to 7½ years in prison following his latest conviction.
Ricardo Elvin Martinez, 47, of Guadalajara, Mexico, was caught here in September when a U.S. Customs officer found him sleeping in a shipping container on a cargo train that pulled into Norfolk International Terminals.

Martinez had been deported five times and was last removed in August 2009. His 24 convictions in five states include offenses for robbery, larceny and dealing cocaine. Four times he was caught near the Mexican border.

This is impossible! Ms. Napolitano said the border was secure.
Gee. What a disappointment.
Deport him to Zimbabwe. Give them $5000 to take him and hold him for a year. If the Mexican government doesn’t like it, then they can pay to bring him back to Mexico.
NO! Deport him halfway to Zimbabwe (Rhodesia) and let him swim the rest of the way.
Just an isolated case?
He's been told % times. Now Ricardo Elvin Martinez needs to just quietly disappear.
Dang keyboard. % times = 5 times!
I think we should use our Navy. Take him offshore and dispose of him like we did Bin Laden’s body.
Wish he could be sentenced to hard labor on a chain gang and making lots of licence plates. I don't like the thought of him lounging in prison sucking off more of our tax dollars.
ROFL!!!
I've been advocating "halfway deportation" on this forum for years. Glad to see some support!
I have long advocated a get seriously tough policy for illegals. We should build WW-II style POW camps in the middle of no place for illegals who either commit minor crimes while here illegally or have been deported and come back. The treatment should be humane but minimal ...no TV, or air conditioning, a few movies but only in English, a library but again only English language publications, access only to English language radio stations and good old American food. A few months in this place before deportation would get the word out that the US in no place to go as an illegal.
A guy with this record gets 7 1/2 years? I hope that was the max the judge could give him.
Twenty-four convictions. Doing the jobs Americans won’t do.
Ping!
Now anyone who has been the victim of a crime...and let's call these "non-violent"..even something as simple as finding your car broken into..is well aware of the time that it takes..police, insurance, repairs..time lost from work..out of pocket expenses..thus this one individual has had a negative impact on 100 families, maybe 200-300 individuals.
Multiply that by 100k times, and you have some idea of why we need to SEAL the borders...and I'm purposely excluding the violent crimes, rape, murder..
With “good “ time he will be out in a year and roaming the country again...we have laws and borders with no teeth
