Finally the other shoe dropped on the Ed Schultz controversy on Wednesday.
In a release from MSNBC management, the network announced it would suspend Schultz for one week without pay for remarks he made on his Tuesday radio show calling conservative talker Laura Ingraham a right-wing slut. However, Schultz will be permitted to address the remarks on his Wednesday television show with the suspension beginning immediately afterwards:
MSNBC management met with Ed Schultz this afternoon and accepted his offer to take one week of unpaid leave for the remarks he made yesterday on his radio program. Ed will address these remarks on his show tonight, and immediately following begin his leave. Remarks of this nature are unacceptable and will not be tolerated, the statement reads.
On his Tuesday radio program, Schultz took a shot at conservative talk show host Laura Ingraham for her criticism of President Barack Obamas trip to Ireland, where he enjoyed a Guinness, while the Midwestern United States was being hit by severe weather.
And what do the Republicans thinking about? Schultz said. Theyre not thinking about their next-door neighbor. Theyre just thinking about how much this is going to cost. President Obama is going to be visiting Joplin, Mo., on Sunday but you know what theyre talking about, like this right-wing slut, whats her name?, Laura Ingraham? Yeah, shes a talk slut. You see, she was, back in the day, praising President Reagan when he was drinking a beer overseas. But now that Obamas doing it, theyre working him over.
A watchdog group called for the suspension of Schultz earlier in the day. However, Ingraham dismissed Schultzs comments in a Facebook posting earlier in the day.

Re. the crude comments made about me by Ed Schultz on his radio program:
First, I was surprised to learn that Ed Schultz actually hosted a radio show. Is it only available online?
Second, I have to get back to recording the audio edition of my new book Of Thee I Zing. Now Im tempted to insert one additional zingabout men who preach civility but practice misogyny.
>>Is it only available online?
Actually Ed’s radio show is on a small number of stations, progressive talk and not nearly as many as Laura’s. In Boston, WRKO gladly runs Laura at 9 am each weekday. Meanwhile
some liberal has to BUY TIME on a different station (WWZN)
to run shows like Ed Schulz. In Boston...
At least Schults offered a real apology that sounded sincere— and not one of those newfangled non-apology “if-I-happened-to-offend-anyone” apologies.

Issues of ugly and unflammatory rhetoric continue to dog MSNBC even as it appears the cable channel is trying to move toward the center following its takeover by Comcast.
Wednesday night, MSNBC announced that talk-show host Ed Schultz would be suspended for one week without pay starting Thursday for calling conservative commentator Laura Ingraham a “right-wing slut” on his radio show Tuesday.
Here’s the statement from the cable channel: “MSNBC management met with Ed Schultz this afternoon and accepted his offer to take one week of unpiad leave for the remarks he made yesterday on his radio program.... Remarks of this nature are unacceptable and will not be tolerated.”
The action came after conservative groups and at least one women’s group denounced Schultz for the remarks and called on MNBC, which operates as part of NBC News, to make it clear that such language was unacceptable.
This is not the first time Schultz has said something coarse, crude, ugly and offensive. In September, he was reprimanded by the channel for calling New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie a “cold-hearted fat slob.”
See that in the video above (at link). But the “slut” remark is far nastier and loaded with gender issues that suggest Schultz needs counseling — or a new job where his inability to control his impulses and tongue don’t offend mass audiences.
Worth repeating. Though rather than a "zing" I would prefer some teeth being busted out of guys like Schultz, Olbermann and Maher.
Truth stranger than fiction: I’m pretty sure that Laura had said that in her days at MSNBC she actually used to..gasp...
DATE Keith Overbite!
But what will both of his fans do in the meantime?
Good question! And will the new owners of Moonbats Shouting Nothing But Crap, Comcast, tolerate him?
BrainDeadEd ...
they didn’t fire him...wow
give them time...
I would recommend he take up truck driving but he's far too much of a drunk for that vocation.
Refresh me - who is Ed Schultz?
I just read his apology to Laura on Politico via Drudge.
I’ll give him this: It was a straight-up apology and no weasel-worded “if you were offend” BS.
Unlike any liberal I ever saw before, he at least manned up.
I missed your post first time through.
But you’ll see by mine....I agree.
Talk host out of Fargo—formerly a “conservative” (supposedly)—who is on MSLSD and also some “progressive talk” stations. Every time I see still pics of him, or a video, he seems very angry and hateful. He is not exactly full of love, tolerance, and intelligence...
Eddie...how’s Taggart Transcontinental doing? :)

He’s a nobody on a nobody channel that raves everynight how we republicans are evil. Funny since he used to be a right wing talk show host huh. He’s kinda like Arianna Huffington...used to be a conservative..then turned Rino...then completely turned to the Dark Side.
Thanks! I thought he looked constipated in the photos.
