EDITORIAL: Obama's best hope: Divide and conquer
Washington Times ^ | May 25, 2011 | Washington Times Editorial

Republicans need to embrace party unity in 2012, or else.

The New York 26th Congressional District race is an important cautionary tale for Republicans. Party divisions helped throw a normally safe seat to the Democrats, and you can be sure the White House is taking notes.

NY-26 should be a wake-up call to Republicans going into the 2012 election season at both the congressional and presidential level. At this point, it's unclear which Republican candidates for president will be able to unite the party's various tribes, but it's certain that the easiest way for President Obama to win re-election is to divide the opposition. Disunity played a key role in determining the electoral fortunes of the three men who preceded him in the White House. In 1992, Bill Clinton unseated President George H.W. Bush with just 43 percent of the vote, aided by Ross Perot's protest candidacy.

Democrats will go out of their way to highlight cleavages on the right, hoping to encourage some form of formal split that will hand Mr. Obama a second term. In the end, it will come down to whether - to paraphrase Benjamin Franklin - the GOP's factions would rather hang together or hang separately.

This is an interesting editorial. The party needs to avoid letting what divides it blind us to what unites it.

This is correct. Anyone who has the chance to vote against Obama and sits home in protest because their candidate didn’t win the nomination is a worthless traitor.

...and Obama-supporter-turned-Tea-Party-candidate Jack Davis played the spoiler, taking 9 percent. Had unity prevailed, the GOP could have eked out a win...

How does the Times hope to forge this unity between the informed voters and the 9% of dim bulb nit wits that hadn't a clue that the so called Tea Party candidate was a Rat plant. If anything, I blame Corwin for running a defense campaign and not hitting the Rat for a Carpetbagger and the TP candidate who was Obummers inside man.

After reading the whole piece, I get the impression the Inside The Beltway crowd at the Times would wish we could all coalesces around a good solid RINO like Myth because he polls well. Screw you WT.

“Divide and Conquer”

The Progressive Democrats think they’re brilliant, but someone else has thought of all their shenanigans before they were ever born; The lightbearer himself.

IMHO

What unites us is kicking obummer out of the White House. If that is not a worthy cause for you, then YOU are not a real conservative.

Main lesson from New York 26th Congressional District race:

A bogus Tea Party candidate can suck up enough conservative votes to give the demmocrat a win.

You can bet the democrats are already working to line up an imposter to run as a bogus Tea Party candidate in the 2012 presidential race.

They already have him. His name is Donald Trump.

The RiNO's and Yacht Club will interpret that as, "All we have to do is hang tight and discipline the conservative Little People whiners to cave and come crawling to us anyway, no matter how much we stab and spit on them and slap down their issues."

The key is to get the word out to the Yacht Club that this NY-26 shows what will happen to THEM, not that it's a loss for conservatives.

“Choose today who’s serf you’ll be, Dem’s or Rino’s.” No thanks. You’re the one who’s falling into the same old trap.

Good point. From what little I saw on national MSM TV just a day before the election, the Republican was not a conservative, did not campaign as a social conservative, but instead tried to defend the fiercely lying Democrap's demagoguery instead of raring back and knocking her block off.

In fact, she sounded on defense a lot like ...... Karl Rove. (Could it be? That she was staffed by someone like Rove or Ed Gillespie or one of Them?)

("Them" = Manor Bush bundlers, fixers, consiglieri, and Lords Ordainers.)
