Conservatives need to go on the attack against the international bankers of Wall Street.
It’s a casino whose losses were subsidized by we taxpayers. It is not the bastion of capitalism as they like to portray it. Capitalism is about taking risk and producing tangible stuff and paying the piper when you lose. Wall St has become about creating fictitious intangible products and games that benefit only the dealers within the casino. It isn’t about creating broad value. The compensation plans for CEOs and hedge funds are about creating volatility instead of value, of which they both then game to their own advantage.
Wall Street put Obama into office. We need to create a nation with real industry and real jobs are created and not a nation where swindlers always win and we taxpayers lose. Far too much of our economy has gone to the financial services sector and it is only to their benefit and not to the benefit of the nation.
This was a VERY expensive loss. Corwin(R) herself spent about $2.6 million of her own money to get about 40,000 votes. That comes out to $68/vote. (By contrast, Meg Whitman spent about $144 million out of her own pocket to get about 4 million votes in last year’s governors race in California. That comes out to roughly $35/vote.) Hochul(D) was surely outspent.
Outside money: the main spenders for Corwin were $700K from Karl Rove’s American Crossroads, $100K from the American Action Network, and $425K from the NRCC (totaling about $1.2 million).
For Hochul, it wound up as $371K from the House Majority PAC, $111K from the Communications Workers of America, $75K from SEIU 1199, and $267K from the DCCC (totalling $824K). Hochul herself raised around a million bucks.
Back in April, when Corwin seemed like a viable conservative, I sent her $100.
Note to self: NEVER, ever send money to a candidate who spends $68/vote and loses!
(Corwin could have passed out $50 bills to voters and come out ahead.)
Yep, its 1995-1996 all over again. I thought that voters this time around might be a little wiser than to buy the "Mean ole' republicans want to Kill Granny and Starve Little Timmy". If there is any positives from the election, we have discovered that the democrats in 2012 are just going to run the same old 90's playbook. The bad news is, it still seems, at least in this election, to have worked. The good news is this is NOT 1995-1996, we are in much worse financial shape and this time around we have Fox News, the Internet and the Tea Parties to spread our message. Republicans need to formulate a response quickly and hammer it from now to election day.
Seniors on the East Coast have been granted what amounts to temporary waivers against the effects of Obamacare. Obama put off the requirements that states revise the Advantage plans. Seniors in WA state have not been so fortunate. Our Democrat governor decided to rush through state mandates involving Obamacare because our Attorney General signed on to the Florida Obamacare law suit against her wishes. Seniors in WA State received notices last year that their Advantage plans were no longer available and that they had a choice of buying a plan at a much higher rate or going without.

It worries me that we waste so much money on candidates that fail us.
To be honest I have to beleive Jack Davis 8% steal is only part of the issue. I still beleive that the corrupt nature of the people of New York bares the bulk of the blame.
If you need an honest thing done don’t ask new yorkers to do it.
I live just east of this district and am disgusted that Jack Asshat called himself a teapartier.
Most conservative NYers (usually upstate) vote with their feet eventually as I plan to do so in the next 5-10 yrs.
Dirty tricks...it’s how they plan to win. Pay attention people!!
The only problem is that there is a lot of vunerable freshmen GOP congresspersons who’se races may be swayed towards the Democrat using such tactics. All the dems need is 25 house seats and Pelosi will have the gavel back.
There should be a recount even if she lost by 10 points. This should be standard procedure for any election now.
After this election, there will be a lot more FAKE Tea Party candidates in the next election.
The difference is that the Republican Party has not yet been taken over by the Tea Party, especially in New England. It's easy for this kind of split to occur. You may not see as much success with this tactic in more conservative parts of the country.
On the other hand, the Democratic Party has been taken over by out-and-out socialists, from the President to your local school board. Why would hard lefties vote for anyone else?
WE didn’t lose the seat. THIS stupid SOB POS and his inability to think with anything but that tiny blob of brain like matter in his crotch lost it for us.
A damned shame it happened this way but we have a year and a few months to start taking it back.
Great contrast of what Republicans voted for and what they actually got. I would have voted for the Tea Party guy.
Each candidate will have the opportunity to (a) tell the truth, or (b) dissemble and pander to the "I paid for it" crowd.
My take is that if enough candidates run and win on the pandering option, timely reform will be impossible regardless of whether or not the GOP takes control of the government.
Sounds reasonable.
I wish they would fess up on the SS surplus too. I even heard Jim DeMint agree with progressive (liberal) Dems on SS being safe because there is a trust fund which he admitted was 'borrowed'. If you loaned money to a gamble-holic would it be safe? It might be safe for you only if the gambler can find newer suckers to loan him more money, it's not safe for them.
It was a fake party designed to do exactly what it done.
Why barf. We knew this would happen. Barf would be if we had no idea and expecting the Republican to win and then didn’t.
