It was awkward. But I think he did right to finish his thought and get it out.

So if a foreign Head of State is in our country, at a State Dinner, and AFTER everyone has already shown the proper respect for their anthem, it would be OK with you if they talked most of the way through our National Anthem just because they were finishing a thought?

IMHO...

The yapper in chief is unaware that during any national anthem one shuts one’s yap out of respect.

Before the music started, he kept trying to make eye contact with her during his toast, as if he was speaking to her.

He is less than clueless on formal events, let alone protocol for interacting with heads of state. The toast is spoken to the guests, it is rude to try to get a reaction from the person you are toasting unless the toast is informal - let alone the fact that it is a head of state in this case. For the Queen to react with eye contact and a smile at him while he is toasting her, she would be showing him a courtesy or preference that she shows no one, since she represents the United Kingdom; as a symbol, she is the state. Her husband the Prince walks behind her because he is not head of state. You will never see the Queen be “folksy” and start hugging people, or smiling and giggling with them. She has to reserve her personal feelings and only interact in a polite fashion, not in a “chummy” or “friendly” fashion. She is not a politician. A Prime Minister or President is head of state or head of government (a politician) depending on the situation, and, for the most part, they act accordingly. She must above all be dignified and noble. Her “friendships” are formal, as they all have symbolic implications.

He simply should have immediately shut his yap, waited a big pause to get attention back to himself after the music stopped, then briefly concluded as he did. He did not take a sip, that was rude. One can only assume that he was trying to signal to muslims that he is not taking the alcohol. It is difficult to imagine giving a toast to a head of state and then not drinking whatever was in one’s glass.

About the only thing he does with royalty and heads of state is bungle - and he seems to take delight in it, other than this time, when I think he was really hoping he would shine with his brilliant toast. Narcissist that he is, he could not help but detract attention from the object of his toast - another head of state - and draw it to himself. One can’t learn narcissism like that, one has to be born with it. He truly is one of a kind, except for his attitude and fantasy ideologies, which are all too typical of the far left.

The disdain between obama the communist and any symbols associated with Western civilization other than rap music and basketball is palpable whenever they are juxtaposed.

If his toast was shorter, simpler and made more sense, perhaps it would not have been so confusing and he could have finished prior to the British national anthem.

Funny thing is he’s not even respected at all by the Russians. How funny is that. He’s simply a useful idiot like oswald. If he visits Russia, I can just see Putin at the end joking with his minions, get this dufus out of here, send him to America where he can help us by being their President.

Well, he certainly is making good on his campaign promises to his core supporters, all the America-haters. He’s trying for all he’s worth to be disrespectful to all things Western. Try as he might, I would venture a guess that every thinking person in the world knows that he only shames himself.
