Herman Cain jumps to second among Republican candidates, according to Zogby poll
Yahoo News ^

Former Godfather’s Pizza CEO Herman Cain placed a surprising second in a Zogby poll of likely Republican primary voters released Tuesday.

The poll measured support for New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who says he will not run, at 17 percent. Cain was preferred by 14 percent and Texas Rep. Ron Paul by 10 percent.

The results place Cain well ahead of many leading candidates, and come on the heels of a strong performance in Fox News’ May 5 primary debate in South Carolina. Cain was one of five participants.

Candidates widely considered frontrunners all received less than ten percent support.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney was supported by 9 percent of respondents and former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich by 7 percent. [ For complete coverage of politics and policy, go to Yahoo! Politics ]

Businessman Donald Trump, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, and Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels were all supported by four percent.

Zogby also asked respondents to select the candidates that they would never vote for.

Trump led the “never” field with 50 percent, followed by Gingrich at 36 percent, Palin at 36 percent, Huckabee at 34 percent, Paul at 32 percent, and Romney at 27 percent.

The poll was administered online, a different method than used in most scientific polls. There were 1,377 respondents and a calculated margin of error of +/- 2.7 percent.

At the time of the drafting and ratification of the United States constitution,
the definition of natural born citizen, combined both the principles of jus soli and jus sanguinis.

“The citizens are the members of the civil society; bound to this society by certain duties, and subject to its authority, they equally participate in its advantages. The natives, or natural-born citizens, are those born in the country, of parents who are citizens.
As the society cannot exist and perpetuate itself otherwise than by the children of the citizens, those children naturally follow the condition of their fathers, and succeed to all their rights. The society is supposed to desire this, in consequence of what it owes to its own preservation; and it is presumed, as matter of course, that each citizen, on entering into society, reserves to his children the right of becoming members of it. The country of the fathers is therefore that of the children; and these become true citizens merely by their tacit consent. We shall soon see whether, on their coming to the years of discretion, they may renounce their right, and what they owe to the society in which they were born. I say, that, in order to be of the country, it is necessary that a person be born of a father who is a citizen; for, if he is born there of a foreigner, it will be only the place of his birth, and not his country.”
Emmerich De Vattel, (1714-1767,) Law of Nations, 1758, § 212, "Of the citizens and naturals."

Lol. A poll like this is merely something to laugh about. Zogby is a RAT and his intent is obvious.

It appears to be a Brazilian polling company with Zogby the Rat's name on it. The method seems to be Zogby online style, with an unknown amount of weighting applied (a.k.a. Zogby-in-name-only Brazilian sauce).

Poll hugger's delight.

Yeah, all the momentum behind Cain is imaginary. Keep telling yourself that.

I don’t have to and have watched these soap bubbles float by every election. They eventually pop and their admirers are stunned when such sure things disappear.

I agree on the grassroots point.
Many folks on our side seem to have hard time recognizing that given today's technology, a grassroots campaign can be successful at the national level.
I wouldn't be surprised to see folks embrace a successful businessman over the same old, same old prototypical Ivy League lawyer type of politician.

It’s a Zogby poll. It could show Cain winning the election 95%-5% and I’d still doubt the outcome.

I too can think of some that I will not be supporting in the primary, however Obama must be removed and I will vote for the eventual nominee, whomever that may be.

Cain’s Facebook page says this

Herman Cain
More good news! In addition to the Zogby poll showing me in first place among all of the GOP candidates, Gallup released a new poll this week. And I again earned FIRST PLACE in positive intensity rankings. Thank you so much for your support!!!

“Oh, I know. They don’t realize he’s black. “

Herman Cain is black?

I never got past the free market, small government, and self governance principles.

Someone told me Obama was black. I was like damn. I didn’t know. I never got past the marxist, social justice, wealth redistribution, class warfare principles.

RE: The doomsayers who said “stick a fork in him” after the “right to return” question will be VERRRY disappoointed. lol

__________________________________________________________________________

After Barack Obama, who has almost no experience in foreign Policy when he ran (and still shows it), people are all willing to give Herman Cain a lot of leeway on the issue because they know that using a technical foreign policy term like “right of return” without explaining what it is does not necessarily disqualify a person.

If it did, then Sarah Palin would have been unfit as well for not knowing what the “Bush Doctrine” is when quizzed by Charles Gibson.

How were Reagan’s “never” numbers when he ran? Way up there, right? Tell me I’m wrong.
