Seems comparable to an F-16.

It’s like an HP printer: they give them away and make money on the spares and maintenance.

I wonder what India thinks about this.

The latest jet fighters would be paid for by China, they said.

More proof of how China has not so covertly been behind creating a major military threat against India.

Since we know the Pakistanis got their nuclear plans from "North Korea" it is also more than likely it was ALWAYS China behind the scam, and it would be interesting to see how much 'economic assistance' the Chi-Coms have been giving...that actually wound up in the Pakistani nuclear and missile program.

This article on the JF-17 program makes rather clear how much this whole action is manifestly a response to the killing of their protectee, Osama Bin Laden. This really clinches it that they knew ...and that they are hostile. The "terrorists" they have "helped" kill are undoubtedly just true enemies of their own rule. Not Al Queda or the Taliban.

"Anyone know what the JF-17 compares to?"

Less effective than a 1980 version of the F-16.

**********************************************

Ever think of it this way:

Operation Tunisia; Operation Mubarak; Operation al-Assad; Operation Yemen; particularly Operation Muammar Muhammad al-Gaddafi, [and Family]...

IT’S A BIG MISTAKE! A BIG BIG MISTAKE!

Reason: It is sending all kinds of a mix messages to all kinds of a people everywhere. Yes, the ripples have even reached Pakistan, and, the Pakistanis [suddenly realizes the values of an insurance policies] wherever available to be had.

And the chopper? No! Don’t be silly! It has nothing to do with it. Stealth is not a mysterious technology anymore. I mean if they can apply the [applied science] to a fighter jet, chances are they can utilize it on other applications as well — yes, this goes for the noise reduction component as well.

Stealth is not state of the arts no more. The Russians are into it. The French are fiddling with a concept of their own. I bet the British won’t be left out. The Iranians, Indians, South Koreans, and the Japanese, are all messing around with stealth therefore stealth is no big deal no more. What is a big deal however is this: Wealth! I mean if you have the wealth, then it’s that Ferrari, Man. It won’t be that Ford Model T no more!

I suspect what the deal with the Pakistanis and the Chicom is, is this: It’s a case of you scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours deal. The Chinese [gets an assurance that Pakistan remains neutral in the Chinese-Turkestan controversy] while [Pakistan understands that it needed some leverage against the threat from being send back to the stone ages].

Yes, it is as simple as that so let’s not make a mountain out of this/

Actually, it is a matter of state of the art. The B-2 is already obsolete. The F-22 is totally state of the art. Nothing comes close to it, in either Russian, Chinese, or even French copy-catting. And especially chopper tech, which is distinctly different from the Air superiority tech. Frankly, of all our enemies... They don't know how to do this. At least not yet.

That is why it was so dangerous to have the Chinese grab the tech with Pakistani complicity.
