A series of messages forwarded to The Daily Caller show a top aide to former Alaska Gov. and possible presidential candidate Sarah Palin mocking top political figures and even her bosss own daughter, Bristol Palin.
RedState.com founder and CNN contributor Erick Erickson is a total douchebag, wrote Palin speechwriter and domestic policy adviser Rebecca Mansour in a May 22, 2010, message. Greasy dumb ass with a talent for self-promotion. He threw himself in at the Govs SC rally. Self-promotion. (Erickson said South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley invited him to the rally).
Mitt Romney supporters are wacky as hell, Mansour wrote, but usually Romneys presence online is just an AstroTurf brigade.
Would love to tell Mitts lackeys to stop backstabbing my boss anonymously, Mansour wrote.
Then-California Senate candidate Chuck DeVore wants to be the next Hugh Hewitt (or Huckabee). He knows he cant win. He wants to become a personality. Give him a show to go away, Mansour wrote. Palin endorsed Carly Fiorina over DeVore in the GOP primary for the race, angering some conservatives.
Mansour sent these embarrassing and revealing missives as direct messages on Twitter to an online-only acquaintance approximately a year ago. The person who received the messages forwarded them to TheDC.

“Shes probably wise to hold off announcing until these attempts to scare her out of the race blow over. Id like a Flag Day announcement.”
If the RNC allows for a dark horse, I predict she’ll smartly push it to the last minute.
She might even use Wendell Willkie as the model (rather than Goldwater) :

Unfortunately, the scare tactics, and manufactured scandals will only get worse. That’s to her advantage, as the public will grow numb from such hysteria.
What? What the hell Nikki Haley have to do with DeVore? Was DeVore somehow entitled to Palin's endorsement? Is she not free to make her own decisions as to who to endorse? Who the hell said anyone was a 'paragon of virtue'??
Frankly, DeVore's reaction to not getting Palin's endorsement told me all I needed to know about him and confirmed to me that Palin made the right call. Considering his unseemly reaction, it MIGHT occur to a thinking person, e.g., someone other than you, that she knew more about DeVore's character than some of his supporters did.
“To be fair, the Daily Caller has denied paying for them.”
Wasn’t Daily Caller the one who acquired the JournOlist archive?
They most certainly paid for that one considering Big Government had already offered the bounty of a $100k reward.
Why wouldn't we accept this from others? Someone gave her opinion about some public figures. Who wouldn't we accept this from?
This wasn't someone. It was Palins number 2. A wanna be screenwriter who acted like a child. Want to vent like a madman? Get a FR account. Not twitter linked to yourself.
Who wouldn't we accept this from? How about the crap that rolls out of team Romney on a regular basis on Palin and Bachmann? I don't put up with that and many here go off on that as well. I don't even like the Palinistas new habit of slamming Bachmann recently, on Palin blogs, when both people are not officially in the race yet. What if they both don't run? It is unnecessary damage. The left does plenty of that already. It is bad form when the main focus should be one man 24/7. Obummer.
I'd interpret those remarks a few ways:
1. It was a risk because: Nikky Haley was a virtual unknown, in a very male-entrenched GOP culture, in a state where Jim DeMint is a top name. DeMint didn't endorse. In many ways, Nikki's campaign was similar to Sarah's in Alaska- both had to beat back the ol' boys club, but this time, Sarah had to sit back and watch.
2. It was a risk because: those crazy-ass rumors of Nikki having affairs. We all know how the MSM takes that crap and runs with it. Even though I'm sure Palin laughed at the rumors, from a national standpoint, it would have been pretty bad if the rumors were true.
3. It was a risk because Haley wasn't the establishment candidate. Of course, in that, there was also high reward if a Palin-endorsed conservative won over the establishment guy.
4. And last, it was a risk because SC is indeed extremely important in a Presidential campaign. Ask GWB how important SC was in 2000. Does that mean Sarah's running? Don't know. But it looks like she's planning for the best case scenario, which is a very smart move. If she doesn't run, she has the establish 'king maker' clout in SC to be a huge factor there in 2012.
The interesting nugget here is Romney. If Romney is planning on winning without the south, he can kiss the Presidency goodbye. Southern conservatives will not vote for him and will likely sit it out, even if that means Obama 2.0. Romney is clearly banking on the NE RINO states to win.
I also find it fascinating that Romney would basically kick half the country to the curb. That elitist mentality ain't gonna fly, period. Mitt is in for a HUGE shock if he thinks conservatives will rally around him like they (falsely) did Scott Brown.
“How about the crap that rolls out of team Romney on a regular basis on Palin and Bachmann?”
I think the difference is Romney’s crew aren’t some glorified bloggers and writers trading in snark.... they’re insiders playing the insider game, placing news items, floating rumors, purposely strategizing how to hurt the competition through back room means.
This is just some kid running his mouth.
Even if it was a deliberate leak (really possible), it’s still just inconsequential payback in the insult department.
I agree about DeVore. Even conservatives can have a sense of ‘entitlement’. Of course, based on his pissy-mary tantrum, it’s a pretty good bet he never liked her anyway, and only wanted to use her star power.
Those Romney trolls use underhanded methods to PUBLICLY bash someone. They pretend to be what they’re not to try and trick people into supporting their guy. Mansour merely vented and she did it in private, supposedly in confidence. Big difference.
I don’t see what you’re so riled up about. In my opinion, there isn’t even a lot to disagree with in what she said.
All that’s really a problem here is that she vented to the wrong person. Hardly a punishment worthy of the firing squad.
>> “Maybe Im ugly, but not as outright stupid as this moron Rebecca. Can you think of a more ill advised thing to do?” <<
.
All political “aids” do it. Look a Carl Rove; he makes Rebecca look like a genius.
Just working for Palin doesn’t make her immune to taking gratuitous hip shots.
