Carter: 'Probably superior' to other ex-presidents

*** UPDATE 3:59 pm ET *** Former President Carter issued a written statement after his comments aired:

"What I meant was, for 27 years the Carter Center has provided me with superior opportunities to do good."

In an interview with NBC's Brian Williams, former President Jimmy Carter, who has been a target of the right through the years, lauded his own post-presidency, telling Williams, "I feel that my role as a former president is probably superior to that of other presidents."

Carter, who is out with a new book defending his legacy, backed up his assertion by saying the Carter Center goes where the United States government does not, "to fill the vacuums in the world."

Also, don’t forget he tried to kill a starving little dog with a saw for simply trying to eat Jimmy’s cat’s food.

I hadn't heard that one. What's the story?

America's voters agreed with you, Jimmah...

America's voters were happy to make Jimmuh a former president.

I voted against the SOB in the first election I was eligible to vote in. I thought it was madness to put this peanut farmer into the White House. I was barely 18 and was able to recognize that he was a joke even then, without the Internet. I've been proved correct.

Hey, you remember way back then after Carter got elected they had a show on Tv..."Carter Country"? Why isn't there a show today called "0bamaNation"? I could just imagine a good theme song with a bunch of entitlement leeches singing about how from now on their gonna sit on their "Yes We Can!".

To quote some brilliant FReeper who’s name is lost to me “ Did Jimmy Carter ever wonder that if anyone were interested in anything he had to say, he would have been re-elected’’?

Here is a link that details the book written by a Secret Service agent. Jimmah was the ‘least likable’ president and I think this man is being kind by putting it like that. The part about the dog is about 2/3 of the way through the article.

He treated the Secret Service horribly. These men would have taken a bullet for bucktooth inbred or his ugly kids and he just treated them all with total contempt. Pppppllllttt.

Jimmy has never forgotten the ass-whumping he received in 1980. He still can’t believe that Reagan beat him. He’ll never forgive the American people for giving him what he sees as a personal humiliation.

And he had the unmitigated gall to actually ask the Soviet ambassador for the USSR's assistance in the 1980 election -- on the premise that he would be "easier" to deal with than Reagan.

Loser...if not a traitor...

You're right on that. And I remember commie Ted Kennedy was also actively appealing to the Soviets for help in defeating Reagan. They're called RATS for a reason.

[Carter] treated the Secret Service horribly. These men would have taken a bullet for bucktooth inbred or his ugly kids and he just treated them all with total contempt.

There is a pattern here.

The same could be said of Clinton. And LBJ. And, probably, Obama.

Moreover, the White House staff has alluded the same. As has the Presidential tailor.

It seems to be a fact of life that those who claim to be "looking out for the little man" view him with utter contempt.

Meanwhile, Reagan and the Bushs were universally adored by the Secret Service, the White House staff and the personal vendors -- because they were gracious gentlemen.

As opposed to arrogant punks...

MSNBC says Carter is "'Probably superior' to other ex-presidents"?

I'm not buying it until DEBKA says it. Come on, folks, FR's got to take a stand for responsible journalism!

And [besides Carter] I remember commie Ted Kennedy was also actively appealing to the Soviets for help in defeating Reagan.

Once these treasonous efforts were revealed to the public, I wondered why-oh-why weren't Carter and Kennedy, if not tarred and feathered, at least booed off the stage.

Asking an ally, like the UK, would be one thing. But asking a sworn enemy for assistance in an American election? Only a traitorous asshole would do that...

Of course, the MSM didn't care -- but they did care enough to suppress the reports.
