SANTA FE A federal judge has ordered the Santa Fe Public Schools to hire officers from the Transportation Security Administration which provides airport security to supervise searches of students at the Santa Fe High School prom today and at the coming Capital High School graduation. U.S. District Judge James O. Browning also directed that the searches must be "graduated," with pat-downs only if reasonable grounds are established first.

Sounds like a school system that needs to be disbanded if it is so dangerous that girls in prom dresses must be groped in order to attend a formal dance.
And I thought the attendees at my daughter’s Senior Night were animal-like in behavior. I don’t think they had security pat downs at their prom, but maybe I should quiz my daughter. The issues with daughter’s school is whether or not to allow non-graduates to walk at graduation. The school decided that they would allow the students who did not pass the now required AIMS tests to walk at graduation and to receive a piece of paper that says that the student(s) fulfilled all of the school’s graduation requirements. They are all crazy.
It’s the thin air and nosebleeds mebbe???
Is teen gang activity feared? If something like this had been tried at a public event at the schools of my era, everyone would be wondering if there had been a bomb threat.
If you read through the whole story...you have a pair of sisters who complained that groping was accomplished by the private security gal at a different prom in the area. The judge took her statement at full value (perhaps with witnesses, but it’s not obvious in the reporting), and he selected the TSA folks. Curiously, he could have easily asked someone like the principal to review the entry processes with the private security folks....or even asked the local county sheriff to have a person there to monitor the situation.
What we ought to question out of this entire report....is why you need any security at a prom? The minute you suggest that....I think you’ve got a pretty big problem to start with, and I’d be thinking of a city policeman or county deputy there to monitor things.
Another question — doesn’t TSA need permission from their Personnel Office in order to accept outside employment? How does the judge know it will be granted?
It is time to make war on the government.
Civil rights claim
The is very much like the Obamacare mandate to purchase insurance. Like Pure Fascism. The Judge forces the school to buy from a certain supplier connected with or part of the government.
Disgusting. Also, against the Declaration of Independence’s demand that there be no standing armies. The TSA is a “standing army”. An army standing in the midst of the nation acting to tyrannize it.
