The briliant ‘dem” Gov charlie Christ drove out a lot of private ins co and we have a “govt hurricane ins co” that is waaaaay below market price...guess who picks up the tab?
Yup, the taxes we will pay.
and why am I paying for someone who decides to live on the beach? Yup, we are.

I live in Titusville, Fl, when I’m not overseas, but we have private insurance and enough of it. Not on the gov’t dole.

Same reason I'm paying more for insurance. FEMA expanded the flood maps to grab a piece of the insurance pie. I'm in a flood zone that didn't exist a year ago.
