Assembly Speaker John A. Pérez is accepting "full responsibility" for mischaracterizations in recent years that he graduated from the University of California, Berkeley.
The Los Angeles Democrat's Assembly Web site says he "attended" UC Berkeley but does not indicate whether he got a degree. In a written statement, he said he regrets not doing enough to correct accounts that he graduated.
"I take full responsibility for this mistake, and I regret it," Pérez said.
Robin Swanson, Perez's spokeswoman, said today that he left UC Berkeley for financial and family reasons after attending for about four years.

I was thinking the same thing.
It’s the Dream Act. He was dreaming that he graduated from Berkeley.
Huh? Attended is perfectly fine. He did attend, and he never said he graduated. So where’s the fraud?
Why even bother? As far as I know, there’s no requirement that the member of any legislature in the US be college educated. And if the major was in fine arts or humanities, all the degree really tells me is that the person spent at least four years wasting time and money.
People who were campaigning for him said he graduated, and he didn’t correct them.
lol
Repeat after me
All degrees equal, but more importantly, not a requirement.
All degrees equal, but more importantly, not a requirement.
All degrees equal, but more importantly, not a requirement.
The general public would be shocked to learn how many highly paid CA state analysts and managers have never attended one day of college. Thank you SEIU!
It’s okay. That whole ‘college thing’ happened quite a while ago. He just FORGOT that he didn’t graduate. An honest mistake that any one of us could have made...
;-)
He should have corrected them, if he knew about it, but he never said he had graduated.
Frankly, I think it’s better not to have graduated...that means they didn’t have a chance to suck all your brains out. Steve Jobs and many others never graduated.
“mischaracterizations” - “mistakes”
Lord, these people, even after being caught red-handed, can’t force themselves to admit they LIED.
Pitiful.
BTW, I don’t live in CA and I have no idea who this guy is. I simply think that he stated it correctly and that he’s just being subjected to a media attack now, for whatever reason.
Again, I don’t know CA politics, so I don’t know why this would be.
He had years to “take fully responsibility” and correct it.
