Any Republican who serves in any kind of leadership capacity receives hate emails. A lot of hate emails are anonymous, but many are not. On Wednesday, Margi Helschien, president of the Boca Raton Republican Club and vice-chair of the Republican Party of Palm Beach County, received the following email:

From: To: Sent: Wed, May 18, 2011 4:47:53 PM Subject: re: get lost you are all so nervous about our wonderful President Obama winning again, that you are doing every kind of dance known to mankind. all you want to do is get rid of the middle class, and poor. if you are rich, then you are safe. i do wish all of you lose your health insurance and your jobs. that is my prayer for all of you. you are all mean, evil and selfish. i wish you all bad luck. XXXXXXXX DEC Member

In most instances this is the proper way to respond to unreasonable hatred from Democrats.

That e-mail says alot about the Democrat/Progressive population of Palm Beach County.

(Bad toilet-training maybe, bad manners, or just a case of an untreated pyschiatric condition?)

IMHO

My dad says that same old crap about Republicans being against the middle class and the poor. It’s completely ludicrous.

Helschien, the Republican mentioned in the story is not rich, she is middle class by any standard.

You wonder how Massachusetts kept electing Democrats no matter how amoral they were? Parents told kids for years that Republicans were not for the working man and only for the rich. I did not know a thing about the GOP until I moved away. I saw what the Democrats did during the Vietnam era and figured there had to be a more sane way. I switched.
The GOP seems to clean house now and then. The Democrats do not seem to mind Harry Reid ranting against oil while taking huge sums from mining sources ( that use government land to mine)

Political warriors and brawlers are important to both political parties. But even more important are leaders who can deliver a consistently positive message. We are trying to win the votes of our fellow Americans. We are not fighting a civil war.

We are in a civil war against Marxism that is still in its "cold" stage. It is a war of ideas that conservatives must win or one of two things will happen: 1) There will be a "hot" civil war, or 2) The earth will fall into a Dark Age of a thousand or more years.

These "good ole' boy" and "let's be polite" Republicans are despicable. They obviously can not see that we are fighting for the very survival of our nation.

It is a little surprising to me that someone would write such an immature e-mail and actually sign their name to it. I was always taught to respond with kindness to people that are mean, but it is much harder to do, in practice. Good job, Margi. I agree that it is necessary to fight hard battles, but life's too short to be hateful.

Margi Helschien’s response to the unnamed DEC member’s hate email was truly gracious, but I’m afraid the (ahem) lady who spewed the venom won’t understand it. Some people just can’t, or just won’t, embrace the American Dream. They sneer at the virtues many of us hold dear: faith, family, pride in our nation, hard work, integrity. I don’t believe for a minute that she’ll be moved by Margi’s words.

"...These "good ole' boy" and "let's be polite" Republicans are despicable...."

Them's strong words. I would have said "sad", "defeatist", "useless", "counterproductive" and even "treasonous".

Those are strong words too, so yeah, I guess I am in agreement with you.

Fighting how? through the American political process, correct?

That means winning votes. If you find winning votes so “despicable,” then what exactly is your plan to win?

We are not fighting a civil war
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

If these wormy Republican leaders can’t see that we are literally fighting for the very survival of freedom, then it is time to replace them with leadership that does understand it. The consequences of losing this war of ideas is literally slavery and centuries-long oppression and darkness for the **entire** world! Yes, it is **that** serious!

This author ( who is a Republican leader on the local level) obviously doesn’t “get” the obvious! The hate expressed by the Democrat leader in the published letter is real. Democrats,( who should be called what they are: Communists!) would kill conservatives if they could. They just can’t get away with it....( yet).

“Doing every kind of dance know to man”?- What about The Frug? Has she ever seen a Republican doing The Frug? I never saw any DEC people when I was Fruging. Maybe they were the ones out back smoking grass. I used to be able to Frug with the best of them, but then I hurt my knees. I can do a little of The Watusi, but my Fruging days are over. Mighty bold statement “doing every dance known to man”. And don’t even get me started about The Schottische. There ain’t a DEC member alive that’s seen a good Schottische. All the DEC people know how to do is The White Bread Stumble.

Oh I get it alright, It’s all the internet tough guys talking about civil war that I don’t get.
We need to win elections. That’s how to get Obama out of office and win the senate.
Posturing at the level of an adolescent does not win elections.
