Sarah Palin: I do have the fire in my belly to run in 2012 (Video - On The Record Tonight w/Greta)
Right Scoop ^ | Thursday May 19, 2011

Posted on 05/19/2011 8:16:58 PM PDT by Bigtigermike

She says that she definitely has the fire in her belly to fight to put America back on the right track:

"I think my problem is that I do have that fire in my belly. I am so adamantly supportive of the good traditional things about America and our free enterprise system and I want to make sure that America is put back on the right track and we only do that by defeating Obama in 2012. I have that fire in my belly."

Right before this Sarah also took another slam at Newt Gingrich, and a good one too:

You know what I thought after the whole Newt Gingrich thing in these last 24 hours, Greta, was ‘bless his heart and every other Good Ol’ boy’s heart that’s in that political game there in the beltway. They don’t really know any more than the rest of us.’

Greta, it was Newt Gingrich who told me in January of this year “Sarah Palin needs to slow down and really think through what it is she has to say.” Well you know, he stumbles too. We all stumble. We all have our strengths and our weaknesses."

The entire interview is great. Enjoy!

Bachman is a dark horse right now, but I recall that she raised 13 million for her PAC, wiping out everyone else, including even the Palin PAC. And all that was last year! No clue how much she has now after the November election.

I am not a Bachman supporter. I like all but Romney a little and some of them a LOT.

I agree. Palin and Bachmann are on the same page, and I think Palin will back Bachmann and her running mate which, at this point, could only be Cain or DeMint if he wants to be part of this election.

With Huckabee, and Trump out of the picture, we need to clobber Romney... get him out of the picture. Then get solid Conservatives like Ryan, Rand Paul, and Rubio to vociferously back the girls.

“It’s a matter for me of practical, pragmatic decisions that have to be made. One is, with a large family, understanding the huge amount of scrutiny and the sacrifices that have to be made on my children’s part in order to see their momma run for president. But yeah the fire in the belly — it is there.”

= = = = =

You know, you mention Ryan, Rand and Rubio (the three R’s).
It is plausible that the establishment is really giving Rubio a look toward the future, given the increasing need for the Latino vote. Rubio is awfully slick, says a lot of the right things. I hope he proves to be real. Anglos are really losing ground in border states and that condition is also moving northward. The Hispanic vote of 2012 needs to be offset by Independents on our side.

Hillary’s Marxist grasp of *which* issue(s) impressed voters to such an extent that she has set a high standard for future women candidates? I don’t get it, honestly. I can’t ever remember nodding my head as Hillary spoke about anything.

I sensed the same thing you did. Sarah Palin is getting things ready for the ride into the White House. No doubt about it.

Reagan didn't get in until November 1979, why not follow the Gipper?

I fully agree with your comment about Rubio. Hopefully, Sarah will choose him for VP. Bob

It’s been around for a bit longer than 2008:

FIRE IN THE BELLY - “an unquenchable thirst for power or glory; the burning drive to win a race or achieve a goal. As a political phrase, the expression is usually used to indicate a Presidential candidates’ desire to win, particularly the willingness to endure the long contest. It first appeared in print in 1882, in an essay by Robert Louis Stevenson, in which he compared historians Thomas Carlyle and Thomas Babington Macaulay. The source of the expression is not known. Perhaps this metaphor for ambition comes from stoking a potbellied stove or from the fiery sensation of heartfelt heartburn.”
~From “Safire’s New Political Dictionary” by William Safire (Random House, New York, 1993). Pages 249-250.

Sarah is not going to endorse Bachman, she is only a congresswomen, she can’t win!

Palin is running and Bachman will get out of the race and ask her supporters to support Palin.

I watched Rubio’s acceptance speech twice. He’s smart, patriotic, and sincere.

"Reagan didn't get in until November 1979, why not follow the Gipper?"

______________________________________________________

This is a foolish statement that is repeated over and over & it is not true.

Ronald Reagan ran and almost won the nomination in 1976. He did not win but he kept his large national organization active over the course of 4 years.

A national campaign against a hostile GOP establishment is not something you can simply turn on overnight.

” Hillary’s Marxist grasp of *which* issue(s) impressed voters to such an extent that she has set a high standard for future women candidates? I can’t ever remember nodding my head as Hillary spoke about anything. “ =====

Don’t you remember how macho she had to prove herself on war and peace issues. big stuff. She knew who GWB knew, on who’s who on the international scene and the scenarios that every one of them were dealing with, that Iraq was a threat, she sent Bill into the Balkins to kick whatshisname out, she got the WMD message and was willing to authorize force. There was just some heavy stuff going on that her experience as wifey handed her. She could form an opinion on anything foreign because of that. Then put a hat on that said “ I’m authoritative” on it and sell it. Just sayin’.

Sarah been putting her people in place for 4 years just like Reagan.

By the way, I was around for Reagan and Palin supporters are more willing to fight and work for her than Reagan's in 1979.

Saw about half of the interview, dang!, but Sarah seemed more relaxed than with Hannity's before.

I was hoping she'd ask Greta and her colleagues to put more effort into 'discovering' more about the current President, his past associations and such, but her response was fine: knock-off the little stuff and go after past performances because it may suggest future actions.

Under this standard, very few will stack-up like Sarah, her walking the walk is marathon(al). Very simply, a mother from Alaska can be conservative to a fault, respect others while holding to her own values, and needn't sport a degree from some eastern college to do so. Alas, truth isn't taught there, it's taught in life's classroom.

This is particularly worrisome for pundits who must know that most of America is comprised of people like Sarah where common sense, coupled with a sense of what's right for America, is in abundance, ie. they can win, huge.

Al Bama's biggest problem is he doesn't connect with the average guy or gal. He's a snob, self-inflated ego love doll, and thin-skinned race baiter with big ears. He ain't black, ask Conway West. Worse still, he doesn't even know what and who he's playing footsie with- a death cult.

See, the battle is between Life and Death folks. Not good and evil. Not even between love and hate (which I had subscribed to for some time). Forgive me as I thought Islam hated us because we loved freedom and opportunity over slavery and tyranny. I was wrong. They hate us because we respect life, and they worship death.

Sawing someone's living head off, throwing rocks at a women's face and shoulders until she's dead and what have you? Evidence? Yes. Blowing oneself up on a bus or in a car to get to paradise with virgins? Again, evidence of a death cult with other clues such as detesting dogs- man's best friend.

Understanding who and what we are against is necessary for our survival. Denials won't cut it. Kicking Israel in the face while she's surrounded by death-loving zombies should hurt, and it will, come 2012.
